LEGACY ...IT’S OUR TURN LEGACY ...IT’S OUR TURN Daily • Devotional Intro

God is moving MPCC, not just our building, but also our hearts and souls.

We invite you, members and friends of MPCC, to join us as we embark on a 30-day journey into God’s word, seeking His will for us as individuals and as the body of Christ. Through this journey we will focus on the legacy of MPCC and growing in our faith and love towards others, allowing God to use us in ful ll- ing his vision for our church.

Each day we will provide you with a short devotion, thought and a prayer suggestion. We ask that you begin by preparing your heart and mind before God, and then join us in reading the devotion and presenting our praises and request before the Creator. Be encouraged in knowing that God, who created the heavens and the earth, is doing a wonderful work in you!

LEGACY ...IT’S OUR TURN Daily • Devotional Day 1

Verses:

You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue, you, Lord, know it completely. ~Psalm 139:1-4 (NIV)

Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain. Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I ee from your presence? ~Psalm 139:6-7 (NIV)

If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,” even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you. ~Psalm 139:11-12 (NIV)

Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any oensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. ~Psalm 139:23-24 (NIV)

Thought: For God to work in us, we have to allow it. We must cleanse and humble our- selves, so that nothing stands in the way of the work God is trying to do. He knows us more intimately than any earthly person could. Rid yourself of any bitterness, personal preferences, con icts within the body, or agendas, and God will be given the space to do a miraculous thing here.

Prayer: God, you are our Father and Creator. You are our Savior and Protector. We praise you for who you are, and we beg for you to intervene. Forgive me for this thing I’ve been holding onto. Take it away from me and away from this body of believers. Cleanse me so that I am not a stumbling block in any way. May we be used fully and only for your work? LEGACY ...IT’S OUR TURN Daily • Devotional Day 2

Verses: I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth is already bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth is already loosed in heaven. ~Matthew 16:19 (HCSB)

Thought: Through Jesus, we have the authority and privilege of sharing the Gospel with those who are lost. God has entrusted us to share this glorious gift with others.

Prayer: Thank you Lord Jesus for your gift of salvation. Give us opportunities today to share this wonderful gift with a loved one, friend or a stranger. Use us to advance your Kingdom.

LEGACY ...IT’S OUR TURN Daily • Devotional Day 3

Verses: Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all he has done. ~Philippians 4:6 (NLT)

Thought: May I ask you a couple of questions? How do you spell stop? What do you do when you come to a green light?

Did you say stop? Well, that got me when I rst heard it and it got me thinking. I tend to worry about and react to things without thinking. I have to remember to put God rst and ask him for what I need and remember to thank him for all that he has done for me already. I need to ask for help to think prayerfully, and then I will be able to walk in his peace with that decision and or circumstance.

Prayer: Jesus, I pray that you help me to stop and put you before every worry and care, so that I may receive your peace.

LEGACY ...IT’S OUR TURN Daily • Devotional 2/23-Day 3/24

Verses: Jesus sat down near the collection box in the Temple and watched as the crowds dropped in their money. Many rich people put in large amounts. Then a poor widow came and dropped in two small coins. Jesus called his disciples to him and said, “I tell you the truth, this poor widow has given more than all the others who are making contributions. For they gave a tiny part of their surplus, but she, poor as she is, has given everything she had to live on.” ~Mark 12: 41-44 (NLT)

Thought: I really like this story of the poor widow. It convicts me to examine my heart; is my heart full of faith, is my heart full of obedience, is my heart full of cheer? God asks us to give cheerfully and faithfully. You know, He only asks for 10% of what is His, He allows us to keep 90%! So why do we sometimes struggle to give the minimum, what if we stepped out in faith and gave more than 10%?

Prayer: Jesus, I am thankful for your providing for all my needs. Please come and search my heart, O Lord, please convict me on what gift, if any, you want me to give to the legacy of my church. I ask for you to help me grow to lovingly and cheerfully to give where you ask me. LEGACY ...IT’S OUR TURN Daily • Devotional Day 5

Verses: For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. ~Jeremiah 29:11 (NLT)

Thought: Only God knows what the future holds. His plans for us give us hope and encouragement, for his plan is perfect. We know that in him we can rest and be con dent that regardless of our suering or hardship, he will deliver us through to a victorious end.

Prayer: We praise you Father for being our hope and our con dence in an uncertain future. We seek your guidance as we search for our new home. We ask for you to direct our mind, heart and steps according to your will. Remove any obsta- cles that would want to prevent us from your plans. LEGACY ...IT’S OUR TURN Daily • Devotional Day 6

Verses: Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. ~Romans 12:2 (NLT)

Instead, let the Spirit renew your thought and attitudes. Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy. ~Ephesians 4:23-24 (NLT)

Thought: We must be continually open to prompting from the Holy Spirit, in everything we do, see and hear. Our human nature is to be self-centered, but God wants us to be “others” focused. Are you bringing sorrow or honoring God with your thoughts and actions? Are you from worldly customs but are still holding on to your pride?

Prayer: Father, break my heart for what breaks yours. Soften my heart to readily receive your will in my life in every situation. Guide me through di cult paths and lead me to where I will honor you. Give me the courage and wisdom to step out in faith in di cult times. LEGACY ...IT’S OUR TURN Daily • Devotional Day 7

Verses: For this very reason, make every e ort to add to your faith goodness; and to your goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual a ec- tion; and to mutual a ection, love. ~2 Peter 1:5-7 (NIV)

Thought: This is my life verse. It gave me direction even though I didn’t know what God’s promises were at the time. I thought that at least I was a reasonably good person, so I decided to gain some knowledge. That knowledge brought me to belief. That belief brought me to experience the Holy Spirit, as it rushed into me and clothed me with peace and a knowing that I was not alone. I became born again! In this year of God’s joy, I have self-examined myself and walked through each of these additions to faith in His grace. I continue now, to learn

His promise that through knowledge of Him and knowledge of His power, I can lead a godly life. I can’t do this on my own. I admit I need Jesus. And rest assured that I now can truly soar like an eagle by His power.

Prayer: Jesus, I pray that I continue to learn more about you and to surrender to you in weakness, so that you may shine through me, for your glory. LEGACY ...IT’S OUR TURN Daily • Devotional Day 8

Verses: “Will a man rob God? Yet you are robbing Me!” You ask: How do we rob you?” “By not making the payments of the tenth and the contributions. You are su ering under a curse, yet you-the whole nation-are still robbing Me. Bring the full tenth into the storehouse so that there may be food in My house. Test Me in this way, says the LORD of Hosts. See if I will not open the oodgates of heaven and pour out a blessing for you without measure. ~Malachi 3:8-10 (HCSB)

Thought: How convicting is that… “Will a man rob God? Yet you are robbing me!” I don’t know about you, but I have never looked at failing to tithe as robbing God, yet, that is exactly what I do when don’t tithe. God’s word tells us that, He will bless us through our obedience; this includes being obedient in tithing. We may or may not see those blessing on this side of Heaven, but we will certainly be blessed.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, You are our beautiful, awesome God. Convict each one of us to search your heart and your will to give back to you. We seek you blessings upon MPCC, both monetarily and otherwise. Teach us the many ways we can bless others through our faithful giving. LEGACY ...IT’S OUR TURN Daily • Devotional Day 9

Verses: And I am praying the you will put into action the generosity that comes from your faith as you understand and experience all the good things we have in Christ. ~Philemon 1:6 (NLT)

Thought: WOW! What a thought…being generous with your faith! This can cover a mul- titude of actions; service, prayer, kindness, love, patience, gifts and the list goes on…. What a wonderful way to show the world Jesus! Just think of the impact this kind of generosity would have in our world.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, we ask you to examine our hearts today, help us to be more gener- ous with our faith today than we were yesterday. Create in us a church body that clearly de nes faith with the word generosity. LEGACY ...IT’S OUR TURN Daily • Devotional Day 10

Verses: Don’t love money; be satis ed with what you have. For God has said, “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.” ~Hebrews 13:5 (NLT)

Thought: It is good to have goals and to strive to accomplish those goals, but it is not good to be so focused on material items that we lose sight of giving back to God what he already owns.

Prayer: Thank you Lord for everything You have provided for me to meet not only my needs, but also my wants. I have far more than I deserve. Father, place upon my heart what You want me to do with your money. Show me a way to give to

MPCC that which you ask me to give. LEGACY ...IT’S OUR TURN Daily • Devotional Day 11

Verses: 4) Love is patient, love is kind. Love does not envy, is not boastful, is not con- ceited, 5) does not act improperly, is not sel sh, is not provoked, and does not keep a record of wrongs. 6) Love nds no joy in unrighteousness but rejoices in the truth. 7) It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. ~1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (HCSB)

Now these three remain: Faith, Hope and Love. But the greatest of these is love. ~1 Corinthians 13:13 (HSCB)

But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love. ~1 John 4:8 (NLT)

Thought:

It is easy to love according to our standards, but God calls us to love according to his standards. Will you chose this day to love others through every circumstance? Are you doing all you can to make MPCC a church of love? Is there someone you struggle with loving? Ask God to show you how to love unconditionally.

Prayer: Father Lord, We thank you for your unconditional love and ask you to come in and examine our hearts. Help us to love even our enemies. Teach us how we can love not only within MPCC, but also beyond the walls of MPCC. Help us to gain a deeper understanding of how much you do love us. LEGACY ...IT’S OUR TURN Daily • Devotional Day 12

Verses: 3) Trust in the Lord and do good. Then you will live safely in the land and pros- per. 4) Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart’s desires. 5) Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust him, and he will help you. 6) He will make your innocence radiate like the dawn, and the justice of your cause will shine like the noonday sun. ~Psalm 37:3-6 (NLT)

Thought: To trust in the Lord means he doesn’t need to give us evidence. To delight in God, we must know God and we nd pure joy in Him. Committing to God means we are giving him control of every area of our lives. Am I trusting and committing to God in a joyful way?

Prayer: Lord, we come to you full of gratitude, thanking you that we have outgrown our current building. We ask for you to continue providing for our location needs, directing us and prospering us for your glory. Let your Spirit shine down on MPCC and use your people to increase your kingdom in this land and distant lands. LEGACY ...IT’S OUR TURN Daily • Devotional Day 13

Verses: Listen! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and have dinner with him, and he with Me. ~Revelation 3:20 (HCSB)

Thought: How blessed we are that Jesus pursues us! Please don’t become so caught up in the pleasures of this world that you shut Him out. If you feel unresponsive to our church, the Bible or God, you may just be shutting God out of your life. The only way to be ful lled in this life is to have a relationship with Jesus.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, Thank you for constantly pursuing us. If we have closed the door to our heart, do what you need to get our attention. Change us to become completely responsive to you! LEGACY ...IT’S OUR TURN Daily • Devotional Day 14

Verses: But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. ~Acts 1:8 (HCSB) Thought: When we receive the power of the Holy Spirit, we are given authority to become teachers of Jesus, spreading His good news of love and salvation, here in Las Cruces, in the United States and the rest of the world.

Prayer: Lord, I am so thankful that your servants taught me about you, allowing me to forever be called your child. Help the people of MPCC become a brighter light for Las Cruces, for our nation and for all other nations.

LEGACY ...IT’S OUR TURN Daily • Devotional Day 15

Verses: You thrill me, Lord, with all you have done for me. I sing for joy because of what you have done. ~Psalm 92:4 (NLT)

Thought: Think of what God has done for you; those little things we take for granted and the huge mountaintops that allow us to soar like eagles. Think of what your life would be like without Jesus.

Prayer: Our dearest Lord, we come before you with hearts full of gratitude. We take so many things in our day-to-day lives for granted, seldom stopping to truly thank you for what you have done. So for this day, we choose to stop and thank you for what you have already made possible for the future of MPCC. We thank you for______. LEGACY ...IT’S OUR TURN Daily • Devotional Day 16

Verses: 2) They are being tested by many troubles, and they are very poor. But they are also lled with abundant joy, which has overowed in rich generosity. 3) For I can testify that they gave not only what they could aord, but far more. And they did it of their own free will. 4) They begged us again and again for the privilege of sharing in the gift for the believers in Jerusalem. 5) They even did more than we had hoped, for their rst action was to give themselves to the Lord and to us, just as God wanted them to do. ~2 Corinthians 8:2-5 (NLT)

Thought: The point of giving should be based on “why” and “how” we give and not on how much to give. God wants us to give as those of the church of Macedonia – out of dedication to Christ. Are you dedicated to Christ?

Prayer: Father, please give us the courage to step out in faith, that you may provide for us and help us to give beyond our understanding. LEGACY ...IT’S OUR TURN Daily • Devotional Day 17

Verses: Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. ~1Peter 5:7 (NLT) Thought: Why do we nd ourselves replacing joy and peace for sorrow? My husband is always quick to remind me, “why worry, can you do anything about it? If you can, do it. If you can’t then give it to God!” He’s right! God can handle all our worries and cares.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, Thank you for taking my cares and worries and replacing them with peace. I am thankful you are the peace-giver.

LEGACY ...IT’S OUR TURN Daily • Devotional Day 18

Verses: But can the ax boast greater power than the person who uses it? Is the saw greater than the person who saws? Can a rod strike unless a hand moves it? Can a wooden cane walk by itself? ~Isaiah 10:15 (NLT) Thought: Do you see yourself as a tool in God’s hand? We when begin to boast of all “we” can do, we are in danger of become a useless tool. No tool can accomplish anything without a high power and when you try, it just makes you look fool- ish. Why take credit for something that is from God? Thank God for using you through your gifts and talents.

Prayer: Father, thank you for who I am, for my gifts and my abilities. I ask that you use me, as your tool, for your purpose. Where does my church, MPCC, need to use me? LEGACY ...IT’S OUR TURN Daily • Devotional Day 19

Verses: 17) “If a bird sees a trap being set, it knows to stay away. 18) But these people set an ambush for themselves; they are trying to get themselves killed. 19) such is the fate of all who are greedy for money; it robs them of life. ~Proverbs 1:17-19 (NLT) Thought: Those who walk with God never walk alone. What type of legacy do you want to leave? Remember that everything is God’s, he is allowing us to manage our little part. How do you think God would want you to handle your money?

Prayer: Ask God for wisdom to recognize any greedy desire before it destroys you. Ask God what your part might be in nding, funding, guiding, and supporting our new church building.

LEGACY ...IT’S OUR TURN Daily • Devotional Day 20

Verses: 41) “The people of Nineveh will stand up against this generation on judgment day and condemn it, for they repented of their sins at the preaching of Jonah. Now someone greater than Jonah is here—but you refuse to repent. 42) The queen of Sheba will also stand up against this generation on judgment day and condemn it, for she came from a distant land to hear the wisdom of Solo- mon. Now someone greater than Solomon is here—but you refuse to listen. 43) When an evil spirit leaves a person, it goes into the desert, seeking rest but nd none. 44) Then it says “I will return to the person I came from,“ So it returns and nds its former home empty, swept, and in order. 45) Then the spirit nds seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they all enter the person and live there. And so that person is worse o than before. That will be the experience of this evil generation. ~Matthew 12:41-45 (NLT)

Thought: I recently read a book that explained how God created us with an internal space that is to be lled with only Him. This space is a God-sized space and when we try to ll it with anything other than God, it leaves the space practi- cally empty. If we do not ll that space by spending time in God’s word and talking with God, then we are making ourselves an easy target for the devil. Am I inviting God to set up home in my life or am I leaving room for the devil?

Prayer: Thank you, Father, for lling me with your Spirit. Help me to remain faithful to you. Help me to recognize and avoid distractions from the enemy. Show me how I can serve you in my church and my community. LEGACY ...IT’S OUR TURN Daily • Devotional Day 21

Verses: The man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the LORD God among the trees of the garden. But the LORD God called to the man, “Where are you?” He answered, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.” ~Genesis 3:8-10 (NIV)

Thought: It was just another day when God was looking for Adam and his wife to have fellowship with them the way they always had before, but was di erent about that day? Disobedience had opened their eyes that they were naked, and so the great cover-up began.

We think sometimes we can hide parts of our lives from God, but we can’t. God knew Adam and his wife went from joy and fellowship to fear and hiding. So, the question is where are you at with God? What do you need to come clean with before God so that you can have that fellowship that God wants with you? God is looking for you!

Prayer: God, help me to come clean with you in every area of my life, and help me to allow you to cleanse me from all unrighteousness. Amen LEGACY ...IT’S OUR TURN Daily • Devotional Day 22

Verses: One person gives freely, yet gains more; another withholds what is right, only to become poor. A generous person will be enriched, and the one who gives a drink of water will receive water. ~Proverbs 11:24-25 (HCSB)

Faith is the con dence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see. ~Hebrews 11:1 (NLT)

Thought: If I am going to be real, I have to admit that sometimes trusting God with “my” money doesn’t come easy. I can easily jump into the role of Stingy no matter how much I hate to. But, I also know that when I give joyfully, the act of giving helps me to gain a right perspective, a Godly perspective on everything I own. My goal is to retire the Stingy side of me.

Prayer: Jesus, Thank you for the lessons you teach me and for my second, third and more chances to change. Thank you that when my faith comes up short, your Holy Spirit is there to intercede where I struggle. Lord, I pray for others at MPCC who may be like me and share my struggles. Help us to see your blessings in taking the step of faith and to take that step. LEGACY ...IT’S OUR TURN Daily • Devotional Day 23

Verses: For I command you this day to love the Lord your God and to keep his com- mands, decrees, and regulations by walking in his ways. If you do this, you will live and multiply, and the Lord your God will bless you and the land you are about to enter and occupy. ~Deuteronomy 30:16 (NLT)

Thought: When I was a young girl, my dad would say to me “don’t do as I do, do as I say.” One day he became confused and said to me “don’t do as I say, do as I do.” Thankfully we have a God whose words and actions are one; LOVE. Everything God does and says is rooted in Love. He has given us a choice, we can choose to follow his words and actions or we can choose to go our own way. The most di cult part of following Jesus is deciding to do so.

Prayer: Father, thank you for blessing us, even though we don’t deserve it. Today, help us chose to do what you have taught us to do. Teach us how to show love to at least one stranger today. LEGACY ...IT’S OUR TURN Daily • Devotional Day 24

Verses: Come and listen to my counsel. I’ll share my heart with you and make you wise. ~Proverbs 1:23 (NLT)

Thought: Pride is a funny disease; it makes everyone else sick except the one that has it. Is your pride allowing you to think more highly of your own wisdom and desires than that of God’s wisdom and desires?

Prayer: Is this verse and thought prompting you to pray about your pride?

LEGACY ...IT’S OUR TURN Daily • Devotional Day 25

Verses: Whatever you give is acceptable if you give it eagerly. And give according to what you have, not what you don’t have. ~2 Corinthians 8:12

Thought: I am always being accused of not being able to keep a secret. When it comes to giving a gift that I know someone really wants, I get so excited that I cannot contain myself and I let the secret out. I do this because it thrills my heart to give and I can’t wait for them to be blessed with my gift. The strange thing is though; I am more blessed with giving the gift than I believe they are receiving the gift. I believe that is what God asks of us when we tithe. He wants us to be full of joy when we give; whether it is tithing, service, etc., but really we are the ones receiving the blessing.

Prayer: Jesus, my Lord, thank you so much for all the ways you bless us! Please convict us Lord, to give back to you according to what we have and help us to make our giving a priority. Help us to take a giant leap of faith and not give into worry. LEGACY ...IT’S OUR TURN Daily • Devotional Day 26

Verses: 16) Preserve the teaching of God; entrust his instructions to those who follow me. 17) I will wait for the Lord, who has turned away from the descendents of Jacob. I will put my hope in him. ~Isaiah 8:16-17 (NLT)

Thought: Because people obeyed God and preserved his word, you and I can bene t from not only the book of Isaiah, but from the complete Bible. Imagine where we would be without God’s word. Think for a moment of what we can do to preserve God’s church.

Prayer: My Lord, Thank you for your teachings and your word. How blessed we are to have this book that has withstood centuries of attacks. Father, this serves as a reminder of how our decisions of today can and do aect our children of tomorrow. Guide us as we strive to leave a legacy of your love at MPCC. Show us what we need to do to leave a godly legacy. LEGACY ...IT’S OUR TURN Daily • Devotional Day 27

Verses: 10) He came into the very world he created, but the world didn’t recognized him. 11) He came to his own people, and even they rejected him. 12) But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. 13) They are reborn—not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God. ~John 1:10-13 (NLT) Thought: I am God’s Child. What is there that can be greater than this? I belong to God’s family; you belong to God’s family. Together we can joyfully work to show Las Cruces how special it is to belong to God’s family.

Prayer: My dearest Father, To say “thank you” for calling me your son/daughter seems so small in comparison to what you have done for us. But, we are truly thankful for you! Teach us how to reach out to those in Las Cruces who are lost. We nd strength through you and your church, MPCC. Lay on our hearts what you have us do for our building, whether it be through donations, service and/or prayer. LEGACY ...IT’S OUR TURN Daily • Devotional Day 28

Verses: “But if I were you, I would appeal to God; I would lay my cause before him. He performs wonders that cannot be fathomed, miracles that cannot be counted. He provides rain for the earth; he sends water on the countryside. The lowly he sets on high, and those who mourn are lifted to safety. He thwarts the plans of the crafty, so that their hands achieve no success. He catches the wise in their craftiness, and the schemes of the wily are swept away. ~Job 5:8-13 (NIV)

Thought: Give your struggles and plans to God. Let’s lay our wishes before Him and allow Him to do the work that can only really be done by Him anyway. He is familiar with miracles and abolishing the wicked. He knows what lies ahead. He will send what is needed and take away what is not. We must stop relying on our- selves to separate the water, and throw our hands up to the God who so easily can separate the water Himself.

Prayer: Father God, I recognize that we are not the rst people to ask for help. We are not the only ones trying to seek your ways. You know what to do. We beg for your direction and physical help here on Earth. We’re growing as a church because of you, and we will provide for this church through you. We will wait patiently for the answers you will provide. LEGACY ...IT’S OUR TURN Daily • Devotional Day 29

Verses: 5) May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, 6) so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. ~Romans 15-5-6 (NIV)

Thought: This verse reminds us of the times when we grow weak, weary, or frustrated. We have to remember that God never grows weary. He is everlasting and ever powerful. Ask Him to energize you with the will to carry on. Ask Him to unite our body of believers so we can bring glory to His name in every little thing we do. May we work together as one?

Prayer: God, I’m so glad to know that when I’m weak, you are not. You are our Rock. Please bring us together with excitement and readiness. May we unite and be the light in this city. May we be so bonded together that we all know exactly where to go to do your will. Father, may we work together to be everything this church was created to be. LEGACY ...IT’S OUR TURN Daily • Devotional Day 30

Verses: How can you think of saying to your friend, “Let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye,” when you can’t see past the log in your own eye? ~Matthew 7:4 (NLT)

Thought: I have a horrible co-worker, but she probably says the same thing about me. If I could just get her to believe in Jesus, if I could get her to forgive others and me, if I could, with all my heart, just x her…. I wouldn’t need to change. Truth is, I can’t to change her, I can only change me and a good place to begin is with the log in my eye.

Prayer: Jesus, I pray for your help in my surrendering myself to you for self-examina- tion. I ask you to change me, so that I may love others without judgment.
