National Lockdown

National restrictions will apply in from 5 November - 2 December. You must stay at home, with a limited set of exemptions. After 4 weeks, the government will review the restrictions based on the latest data. Find out more www..gov.uk/coronavirus

Manchester's Community Response Hub offers support to those in need during the coronavirus outbreak. The Hub is open Monday-Friday 9am-5pm. Freephone: 0800 234 6123 email: [email protected] or text: 078600 22876 (messages responded to by the next working day).

Other sources of support for people at risk:  Care Navigator Service – referrals via [email protected] (also by phone: 0300 303 9650)  Be Well – referrals now via any organisation: [email protected] or 0161 470 7120.

Mutual Aid Groups are becoming busier again, supporting local residents with practical tasks such as shopping. If you or someone your know lives in Chorlton, Whalley Range and Fallowfield and need some neighbourly help, get in touch with your nearest local mutual aid groups as below:

GP Practices in Chorlton, Whalley Range and Fallowfield remain OPEN! If you are feeling unwell or are worried about an existing health condition then please contact your GP practice by telephone or via GP online services. DO NOT VISIT YOUR SURGERY IF YOU HAVE SYMPTOMS OF COVID-19 - SELF ISOLATE AT HOME AND TELEPHONE 119 TO ARRANGE A TEST.

Get Your Flu Jab Flu can be serious and even deadly for older adults, very young children, and people with underlying health conditions. The flu vaccine is the best protection for you and those around you. That’s why it’s free to those most at risk.

You are eligible for a free flu vaccination if you are:  65 and over (including those that will be 65 by 31st March 2021)  Have certain health conditions  Are pregnant  Are in long-stay residential care  Receive a carers allowance, or are the main carer for an older or disabled person who may be at risk if you get sick  Living with someone who is at high risk of coronavirus (on the NHS shielded list)  Frontline health and social care workers.

If you fall into any of these categories, please call you GP to arrange your flu vaccination. If you are aged 50 - 64 you will be contacted about a flu vaccine later.

Healthy Me Healthy Communities – Christmas Gift Appeal

Can you help? Donation of toys, Selection boxes, arts and craft materials, and toiletries are all welcome (suitable for ages 0 to 16).

All donations must be new, unopened and unused. Toys must have the ‘CE’ marking for safety.

Caribbean and African Health Network (CAHN) Have you been affected by covid-19? Do you have any worries or concerns? CAHN is offering emotional and wellbeing support via befriending and free counselling for young people and adults. Call: 07710 022 382 or email: [email protected]

Shout 85258 If you’re struggling to cope and need to talk Shout 85258 is a free, confidential anonymous text support service. You can text from anywhere in the UK, day or night. By texting the word ‘SHOUT’ to 85258 you will start a conversation with a trained volunteer, who will text back and forth and you only need to share what you’re comfortable with. Volunteers can help with issues including: depression, anxiety, abuse, panic attacks, suicidal thoughts, self-harm, relationship problems and bullying.

Self-Help Services continue to operate as normal for support with mental health needs. All assessments and therapy sessions are currently conducted over the telephone and they will now be adding video calls to their options for support. All referrals can be made via professional, GP or self by calling 0161 226 3871 or through the website. An initial assessment appointment will be offered within 1-2 weeks of referral.

Greater Manchester Mental Health Urgent help and crisis support NHS Foundation Trust (GMMH) continue information can be accessed to operate their 24/7 helpline. You can call their free phone number: 0800 953 0285 here.

What to do if you’re a student and it’s all getting too much Don’t be afraid to ask for help – there is a lot of support available to you.

 You can talk to your GP

 You can self-refer to talking therapies for anxiety and depression via self-help services – Tel: 0161 226 3871

 Every Mind Matters has a range of support materials for students on self-care and how to look after your own mental health. You can take the mind plan and get tips dedicated to you on how to cope.

 You can rind the Samaritans at any time of the day and night. They will help you and listen to how you’re feeling. Call free 116 123 or email [email protected] (response time is 24 hours for emails).

 Student Minds is here for students through coronavirus with a dedicated website, Student Space. You can find helpful resources and tips and can access dedicated support services by phone or text. You can also get help finding out what support is available at your place of study. Find out more here.

 Shout (detailed above) provides free, confidential 24/7 text message support in the UK for anyone who is struggling to cope. Text 85258.

The Well The Well is a coronavirus holistic response project that has been developed by the Chaplaincy to the Universities. It supports students, and local residents, with food packs and wellbeing resources. Food can be delivered or collected from the University Campus and there is a full online programme of Yoga, Pilates and Mindfulness resources. Barakah Food Aid If you or someone you know is in need of food then you can contact Barakah Food Aid Directly. Referrals also welcomed from support workers, social workers, community care navigators and other health and social care professionals. Call / text/ WhatsApp: 07506527523

Didsbury Mosque Food Service MIC and Mosque will start a Community winter initiative from Saturday 14th November. Covering Didsbury, & Chorlton. If you know of any elderly person who will benefit from hot meals, a bag of fresh/fruit then please get in touch to register details. The food will be delivered

Platt Hall Collection Chats At each session, someone chooses two objects and we have an informal conversation sharing our curiosity and interest in the objects.
