Change of nominations/elections of Members of Rajya Sabha in various Parliamentary Committees/Statutory Bodies is an ongoing process. As such, some information contained in the publication may undergo change by the time this is brought out. When new nominations/elections of Members to Committees/Statutory Bodies are made or changes in these take place, the same get updated in the Rajya Sabha website. NARIMAN, J. Leave granted. 1. The present appeal arises out of the demolition of Babri Masjid. We are concerned in this case with two FIRs lodged on 6th December, 1992. The first viz. Crime No.197 of 1992, is against lakhs of kar sewaks alleging the offences of dacoity, robbery, causing of hurt, injuring/defiling places of public worship, promoting enmity between two groups on grounds of religion, etc. The IPC offences were, therefore, under Sections 153-A, 295, 297, 332, 337, 338, 395 and 397. The second FIR 1 viz. FIR No.198 of 1992 was lodged against eight persons named therein - Mr. L.K. Advani, Mr. Ashok Singhal, Mr. Vinay Katiar, Ms. Uma Bharati, Ms. Sadhvi Ritambara, Mr. Murli Manohar Joshi, Mr. Giriraj Kishore and Mr. Vishnu Hari Dalmia, two of whom are dead due to passage of time viz. Mr. Ashok Singhal and Mr. Giriraj Kishore. The FIR alleges offences under Sections 153-A, 153-B and Section 505 IPC. 46 further FIRs pertaining to cognizable offences and 1 FIR pertaining to non- cognizable offences were also lodged. Initially, a Special Court set up at Lalitpur was to try these cases but subsequently notifications were issued by the State Government, after consultation with the High Court, dated 8 th September, 1993 whereby these cases were to be tried by a Special Court at Lucknow. -

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA WATER RESOURCES, RIVER DEVELOPMENT AND GANAGA REJUVENATION LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO:31 ANSWERED ON:25.02.2016 NGT Directives for Cleaning River Ganga Singh Shri Lallu Will the Minister of WATER RESOURCES, RIVER DEVELOPMENT AND GANAGA REJUVENATION be pleased to state: (a) the present status of cleaning of River Ganga at various stretches; (b) whether the National Green Tribunal (NGT) has directed the Government not to release any funds to Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand for cleaning River Ganga; (c) if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor; (d) whether certain States are reportedly not extending the required co-operation resulting in obstructing the efforts to clean River Ganga and if so, the factual position in this regard; and (e) the future course of action envisaged by the Government to tackle the situation? Statement referred to in reply to parts (a) to (e) of Lok Sabha Starred Question No. 31 to be answered on Thursday, the 25thFebruary, 2016 on 'NGT Directives for Cleaning River Ganga" raised by SHRI LALLU SINGH (a) A total 96 of projects in 53 towns in Ganga basin States costing Rs. 8383.13 crore have been sanctioned so far under National Ganga River Basin Authority (NGRBA) Program including Externally Aided Projects (EAP) component with the assistance of Japan International Agency (JICA) and the World Bank. These include projects of Rs 2256.01 crore in Uttar Pradesh, of Rs 2155.62 crore in Bihar, of Rs 99.36 crore in Jharkhand, of Rs 1352.51 crore in West Bengal and of Rs 378.41 crore in Uttarakhand. -
