Kari Rueslåtten Releases the Byrds' Classic with a Nordic Melancholic Kari Rueslåtten - "Turn, turn, turn" Kari Rueslåtten releases The Byrds’ classic with a Nordic melancholic sound One year ago, Kari Rueslåtten released the highly rated album ”Time to Tell”. Now she is ready with the first taste of her 6th studio album. The single is a cover version of the The Byrds’ big hit ”Turn, turn, turn”, and will be released May 21st. ”Turn, turn, turn” is given a Nordic melancholic sound; build around Kari Rueslåtten magnificent voice. Inspired by the fjords and mountains of Norway, Kari Rueslåtten has made a version of the song that gives you time to think and space to breathe. As an artist, Kari Rueslåtten has developed a unique melancholic sound within alternative folk-pop. Her desire is to find the beauty hiding in the dark. “Turn, turn, turn” is originally written by songwriter legend Pete Seeger, but it was The Byrds that made the song into a number one hit in 1965. “Turn, turn, turn is the #1 hit with the oldest lyrics, as it is taken from the Book of Ecclesiastes. It is a philosophic lyric, which reflects that there is a time and place for everything; ‘To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.’ The Byrds’ version of the song is up- tempo and has a quite happy sound. We have made a darker and more melancholic version, and the tempo is taken down significantly,” Kari says. It was Olavsfestdagene, a big festival in Kari’s hometown Trondheim, that wanted Kari to make her own version of the song to the opening ceremony of the festival 28th of July. “Olavsfestdagene wanted me to do a version of the song. The theme for this year’s festival is ‘time’, and Turn, turn, turn fits perfectly is that respect. When the festival contacted me, we were in the middle of the recordings of the upcoming album. Making this cover version of Turn, turn, turn became a truly creative process inspired by the sound of the album we were working with. I was never in doubt that the song also had to be a part of the album. As an artist, Kari Rueslåtten has developed a unique melancholic sound within alternative folk-pop. Her desire is to find the beauty hiding in the dark. “I make music that I’d liked to listen to myself. I try creating a mood in the songs, which allows people to listen to their own thoughts. It’s not exactly happy, up-tempo songs I normally write, but I would say it’s more melancholic than dark”, Kari explains with a smile. Turn, turn, turn is recorded in Parr Street Studios in Liverpool, arranged by Kari Rueslåtten together with the musicians Jostein Ansnes, Richard Turvey, Steve Pilgrim and Martyn Campbell. The song is produced by Jostein Ansnes. Kari Rueslåtten, Vocals Kari Rueslåtten was one of the founder members of the progressive doom metal band The 3rd and the Mortal. PREFACE This volume completes the task assigned the Teacher-Train- ing Committee at Greensboro, May 1, 1908. The resolution crea- ting the committee and outlining their work was as follows: "That a committee of three be appointed to prepare a Teacher- Training Course for Sunday-schools, covering two years, a vol- ume of at least forty lessons to the year; that this committee be empowered to ask those competent to do such work to prepare these lessons, the same to be published by our publishing agent." Obedient to this resolution the committee met soon after the convention and outlined the course for the two volumes. The first volume, known as PREPARING THE TEACHER, Book One, was published in November, 1908. This book met with a generous reception at the hands of reviewers and of the church and has been adopted into many of our Sunday-schools. It has also been adopted by the International Sunday-school Associa- tion Educational Committee as Book One of the Standard Ad- vanced Course for Teacher-Training Classes.

  • “SILENCE IS the ONLY SOUND” – Das Neue Album Von Kari Rueslåtten –
