Favorite Songs and Finger Plays Favorite Songs and Finger Plays Independent School District 196 Early Childhood Family Education INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT 196 Early Childhood Family Education 5800 W. 149th St., Apple Valley, MN 55124 Phone (612) 431-8340 Fax (612) 431-8337 Dear Parents, How many times have you wanted to sing a song with your child and found you couldn’t remember the words? This happens to all of us. Our E.C.F.E. teachers are often asked for words to songs they sing during class. Therefore, we have updated the Favorite Songs and Fingerplays book. This is something you and your children can enjoy. Music is a universal language and belongs in the lives of everyone. Children of all ages can reap more benefits from music than just enjoyment. From exposure to music children can enhance their language development, body aware- ness, auditory discrimination, self-esteem, muscular coordination, and their sense of rhythm. These areas of development are thought to be a crucial prerequisite to other, more “academic” activities. Music can also be a calming resource in a stressful situation. Standing in the check out line or waiting in the doctor’s office can be times when a distraction is needed. A verse of your child’s favorite song can change frowns to smiles and make the moment successful. The movements accompanying some songs are merely suggested ideas that can be used. Creativity will really come to play when your child begins using his/her own interpretive movements to the words of the songs. We hope you find this book useful and enjoyable. Sincerely, E.C.F.E. staff 2 Body Self Lap Hand Whole Body Page Song Title Infant Toddler Preschool Awareness Esteem Counting Rides Movements Movement 18 Airplanes in the Sky l l l 22 Animal Crackers l l l l l 9 Apple Tree, The l l l l l 16 Baby Bumblebee l l l 11 Beehive, The l l l 19 Boa Constrictor l l l l 18 Bouncing We Will Go l l l l 7 Car Ride l l l 18 Car Song l l l 10 Come Together Song l l l l 7 Criss-Cross l l l l 6 Dog Named Rags, A l l l 8 Down in the Medow l l l 22 Ears So Funny l l l 17 Fishing l l l 18 Five Little Ducks l l l l 17 Five Little Monkeys l l l l 11 Five Little Muffins l l 14 Five Little Pumpkins l l l l 12 Five Little Speckled Frogs l l l l 14 Funny Snowman l l l 21 Going on a Bear Hunt l l 20 Grandpa’s Farm l l 6 Great Big Elephant, A l l l 20 Hammer Song l l l 5 Head and Shoulders l l l l l l 6 Hello Song l l l l 18 Helper I Will Be, A l l 14 Here is a Frog l l l 15 Here is a Hill l l l 5 Hippopotomas, A l l l 5 Hurry Hurry l l l 6 I Am Special l l l l 7 I Love You l l l l 16 I Used to be a Baby l l l l 22 If All The Raindrops l l 21 It’s Not That Cold Outside l l 17 Itsy, Bitsy, Spider l l l 12 Jack in the Box l l l 4 Johnny’s Hammer l l l 12 Knock, Knock l l l 22 Little Clowny l l l 17 Little Green Frog l l l 19 Little Peter Rabbit l l l 16 Manners l l 3 Body Self Lap Hand Whole Body Page Song Title Infant Toddler Preschool Awareness Esteem Counting Rides Movements Movement 15 Miss Polly l l 12 Mr. Turkey l l l 12 My Garden l l 16 My Head l l l l l l 4 My Little Red Wagon l l l l 4 Noble Duke of York l l l l l 16 Octopus l l l 20 Old McDonald l l 13 Oliver Twist l l l l 9 One, Two, Three l l 10 Open Shut Them l l l l 10 Peanut Sat on a Railroad Track l l 13 Pitter Patter l l l 22 Pizza Hut l l l 22 Ram Sam Sam l l 6 Red Balloon l l l 10 Ring Around the Rosie l l l 7 Roly Poly l l 15 Roly Poly Caterpillar l l l 18 Sailor Went to Sea l 11 Sally the Camel l l l l 6 Skidamarink l l l l l 15 Teddy Bear l l l 13 Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear l l l l 15 Ten Little Fingers l l l l 11 There was a Little Bunny l l l 19 Three Little Ducks l l l l l 15 Three Little Monkeys l l l l 13 Thunderstorm l l l 14 Tic Tac l l l l l 17 Tiny Tim l l l l 8 Trot Trot to Boston l l l l 5 Turkey, The l 19 Turtle l l l 18 Two Little Blackbirds l l l l 9 Two Little Hands l l l l 9 Wading Song l l 8 What Do You See With l l l 10 Wheels on the Bus l l l l l 20 Where’s Thumbkin l l l l 13 Wiggles l l l l l 14 X Marks the Spot l l l l 4 Songs to Sing Little Red Wagon (Tune: 10 Little Indians) Bouncing up and down in my little red wagon, (Bouncing up and down on parents lap) Bouncing up and down in my little red wagon, Bouncing up and down in my little red wagon, Won’t you be my darling? • Congratulations on Your New Match! We Are Thrilled That You Have Decided to Opt in for Connection During a Time of Social Distancing
Congratulations on your new match! We are thrilled that you have decided to opt in for connection during a time of social distancing. We understand that starting a new match off through a virtual platform can potentially feel awkward, so we’ve developed a template of conversation prompts to help you begin getting to know one another. How to Use: The first three months of suggested conversations and activities in your match are outlined below. You’ll notice that we’ve designed this template to follow a natural progression beginning with getting to know one another, discussing your different experiences, and goal setting for the future. We strongly recommend spending a minimum of 10-15 minutes each week, talking about the prompts below. Bigs and Littles should take turns leading the conversation each week and always make sure to check in with each other and make space to talk about and express feelings. Note: Keep in mind that this is intended to be a helpful guide and is not required in your match. If you and your Little prefer to come up with your own conversation topics and activities, go for it! Take what works for you and leave the rest. Goal | The goal for this month is to get to know your new Little/Big by learning about their family, friends, likes/dislikes, hobbies, and favorite things, etc. Instructions: Each week review the prompt and have a conversation. Try one of the suggested activities or come up with your own. Try to think out of the box! Week 1: Review Ice Breaker from Match Meeting.

  • Song & Music in the Movement
Transcript: Song & Music in the Movement A Conversation with Candie Carawan, Charles Cobb, Bettie Mae Fikes, Worth Long, Charles Neblett, and Hollis Watkins, September 19 – 20, 2017. Tuesday, September 19, 2017 Song_2017.09.19_01TASCAM Charlie Cobb: [00:41] So the recorders are on and the levels are okay. Okay. This is a fairly simple process here and informal. What I want to get, as you all know, is conversation about music and the Movement. And what I'm going to do—I'm not giving elaborate introductions. I'm going to go around the table and name who's here for the record, for the recorded record. Beyond that, I will depend on each one of you in your first, in this first round of comments to introduce yourselves however you wish. To the extent that I feel it necessary, I will prod you if I feel you've left something out that I think is important, which is one of the prerogatives of the moderator. [Laughs] Other than that, it's pretty loose going around the table—and this will be the order in which we'll also speak—Chuck Neblett, Hollis Watkins, Worth Long, Candie Carawan, Bettie Mae Fikes. I could say things like, from Carbondale, Illinois and Mississippi and Worth Long: Atlanta. Cobb: Durham, North Carolina. Tennessee and Alabama, I'm not gonna do all of that. You all can give whatever geographical description of yourself within the context of discussing the music. What I do want in this first round is, since all of you are important voices in terms of music and culture in the Movement—to talk about how you made your way to the Freedom Singers and freedom singing.

  • The Beatles Record Review
WRITING ASSIGNMENT Record Review You are going to write a record review of an album that is deemed significant in Rock Music. A list of groups/artists can be accessed by clicking on link below http://www.rollingstone.com/ news/story/5938174/the_rs_500_greatest_albums_of_all_time Criteria: Title Page Name, word count, course number, section number, etc. Introduction: Write a biography of the group you're critiquing. This should include the year the group/artist began recording, a list of and year of recordings, billboard chart positions, and any awards, Grammys, etc. www.allmusic.com is a great source for biographical information. Section 1 You will need to include all of the specifics of the recording, record label, producer(s), year, and dates of recording. Listen to the album several times as if you were a record critic and write an overview of the album, i.e. style of music, mood, highlights, lowlights, etc. Here are some things to consider: Is there a unifying theme throughout the album? Are there contrasting themes? If so, what are they? Is there enough variety musically in your opinion? What is it about this album in particular that makes it stand out? Section 2 Pick four songs and discuss them in more detail. Discuss your likes and dislikes as we have in relation to the journal entries in class but you will need to go into more detail. Discuss any other elements you find compelling, i.e., imagery from the lyrics or lack thereof, the use of and/or role of instrumentation, tempos, solos, vocals, etc. Section 3 Summarize your experience.

  • We Are the World Lyrics.Pdf
We Are the World There comes a time when we heed a certain call When the world must come together as one There are people dying And its time to lend a hand to life The greatest gift of all We can't go on pretending day by day That someone, somehow will soon make a change We are all a part of Gods great big family And the truth, you know, Love is all we need We are the world, we are the children We are the ones who make a brighter day So lets start giving There's a choice we're making We're saving our own lives Its true we'll make a better day Just you and me Send them your heart so they'll know that someone cares And their lives will be stronger and free As God has shown us by turning stones to bread So we all must lend a helping hand We are the world, we are the children We are the ones who make a brighter day So lets start giving There's a choice we're making We're saving our own lives Its true we'll make a better day Just you and me When you're down and out, there seems no hope at all But if you just believe there's no way we can fall Let us realize that a change can only come When we stand together as one We are the world, we are the children We are the ones who make a brighter day So lets start giving There's a choice we're making We're saving our own lives Its true we'll make a better day Just you and me We are the world, we are the children We are the ones who make a brighter day So lets start giving There's a choice we're making We're saving our own lives Its true we'll make a better day Just you and me Songwriters RICHIE, LIONEL / JACKSON, MICHAEL Read more: Michael Jackson - We Are The World Lyrics | MetroLyrics .
