Built on the site of the Old George Inn in the year of Victoria’s ascension, 1837, this stunning late regency building boasts splendid bay windows with elegant balconies and columns. Stepping inside you step back in time, such is the attention to detail shown in the building’s restoration.
The Trafalgar Tavern is quite simply a tribute to old London, a place where the past can live on in the present. The specially commissioned statue of Lord Nelson outside is testament to this, denoting the respect the owners have for the pubs unique history while offering the luxury of modern events and dining.
This inspiring venue provides the ideal surroundings for a casual drink, delectable dinner or an unforgettable event. In Victorian London there was one pub that represented the best of Britain’s naval might and cultural standing, a place where William Gladstone and Charles Dickens could be seen dining side-by-side, an oasis away from the industrial sprawls but yet at the centre of an Empire. Exactly 175 years later, the Trafalgar Tavern still stands in the Greenwich Maritime World Heritage site and it remains one of London’s most essential public houses.
Downstairs, the Collingwood restaurant and Duncan Bar are open to all, in the most democratic style for drinks, lunches and dinners. Whilst upstairs, the Nelson Banqueting room provide a fitting home for the Saints and Sinners, an archetypical gentleman’s dining club who meet each autumn for a sumptuous meal. The first floor can also be hired for a variety of private functions. On the ground floor, the Trafalgar Club can also be found, perfect for private parties, celebrations and dinners.
ROOM HIRE
The Nelson Room can accommodate up to 200 guests for a seated dinner or 350 for a standing reception and it’s licensed as a venue for civil weddings.
The entire first floor of the Trafalgar Tavern can be hired exclusively for your wedding. The venue is available for the entire day, so there is plenty of time for your florist to set up and for you to photograph the room should you wish.
For smaller wedding receptions, we have an alternate space, The Trafalgar Club. Situated on the ground floor, it has its own entrance in Crane Street, along with its own bar and basement dance floor. The room can seat 40 diners and 120 for a standing reception.
