Monthly Summary for the month of December 2020
1. Following the LAUNCH OF JAGRUKTA ABHIYAN FOR COVID-19 PANDEMIC, by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, the series of WEBINARS were launched by NASI under its NASI-New Initiatives (Chair: Prof. Manju Sharma, Past President, NASI). Till date, with the kind consent of Prof. G. Padmanaban, Hon’ble President, NASI and under the guidance of the Chairpersons of various NASI Local Chapters, about 9 programmes have already been held. In December four such programmes were held on different dates (copies of the reports/programmes attached herewith – Encls. 1, 2, 3 & 4) at Shillong, Dehradun, Imphal and Jaipur. The brief reports have been sent to the Ministry of Science & Technology, GoI.
2. POSHAN Awareness camp and COVID-19 awareness camp, were also organized, respectively by the Varanasi and Jharkhand Chapters of the NASI.
3. NASI-Lucknow Chapter organised another camp in a tribal village around their area; also the Lucknow Chapter associated itself with ‘Save-Ganga’ programme launched by ‘Atulya Ganga Abhiyan’ (photograph enclosed- Encl. 5).
4. NASI also celebrated the National Mathematics Day (announcement enclosed herewith – Encl. 6) in collaboration with the Rani Durgawati University, Jabalpur, addressed by Prof. Satya Deo, Emeritus Scientist, HRI, Prayagraj, and several other distinguished mathematicians.
5. The Constitution Day celebrations continued with another programme organised on 4th Dec. 2020 on the theme-‘Scientific Temperament’ (programme enclosed – Encl. 7); a brief report was sent to the DST and the Union Ministries concerned.
Several other NASI Chapters also organized online scientific activities.
