2013 Delegate Directory India 2013 DELEGATE DIRECTORY INDIA WELCOME Dear Delegate, We are delighted to welcome you to the seventh annual Global Spa & Wellness Summit (GSWS) taking place October 4-7 in New Delhi, India. India is of course a uniquely exciting cultural blend of the very ancient and the hyper-modern: as the birthplace of yoga and Ayurveda, it’s the ideal location to explore the historic roots of spa and wellness - and as a global leader in innovation, technology and manufacturing, it’s a perfect venue to analyze new global markets and revenue opportunities. And New Delhi, the capitol of one of the world’s fastest-growing economies, has become a bustling, sophisticated international hub. What an extraordinary, auspicious setting for our event. These next few days at the award-winning Oberoi, Gurgaon promise to be filled with thought-provoking, high profile presentations; joyous celebrations; and the renewal of existing relationships forged at past Summits, as well as the creation of new ones. The Summit team has been hard at work for many months to ensure this year’s theme, “A Defining Moment,” will resonate with you professionally, as well as personally. Each day of the Summit has a specific focus. Day 1, “Outward,” spotlights the global business of wellness. Day 2, “Inward,” revolves around the inspirational business of wellness, while Day 3’s focus is the big business of spa and wellness. We’re especially pleased to introduce our inaugural Global Wellness Tourism Congress on Day 1, where a star-studded lineup of tourism experts, joined Delegate Directory 1 by global Ministers of Tourism, will help us define, benchmark and shape the best strategies to grow the packed-with-potential wellness tourism sector. SRI International’s highly anticipated “Global Wellness Tourism Economy” report will also be presented that day. Day two, “Inward,” will include inspirational presentations from India’s hospitality titans and world-renowned spiritual leaders. The undisputed centerpiece: the rare privilege of having His Holiness the Dalai Lama address our delegation – followed by a special Q & A session. Day 3, “Onward,” is squarely focused on giving delegates the practical, up-to- the-minute knowledge they need to grow their businesses, while also presenting important innovations happening across the wellness landscape. The day also includes our first, dedicated industry forums for collective brainstorming and problem-solving: on Destination Spas, Hotel Spas, Hot Springs Spas, Spa Retail, Spa Education and Hydro-Thermal Spa Design and Manufacturing. We trust you will enjoy “Incredible India,” the richest slate of content we have ever put together, and the special networking platforms planned across each day – connecting you with some of the world’s thought-leaders in spa and wellness. Thank you in advance for contributing your invaluable wisdom and insights and for embracing our simple vision of “Joining Together. Shaping the Future.” The Global Spa & Wellness Summit Board of Directors Emanuel Berger, Berger Hospitality Management, Anna Bjurstam, Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas, Philippe Bourguignon, Revolution Places, Dr. Marc Cohen, RMIT University, Peter Ellis, Spafinder Wellness, Inc.,Susie Ellis, Spafinder Wellness, Inc.,A ndrew Gibson, Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, Susan Harmsworth, ESPA International, Mia Kyricos, Spafinder Wellness, Inc., Jeff Matthews, Steiner Leisure, Anne McCall Wilson, Fairmont Raffles Hotels International, Veer Singh, Vana Retreats, Mary Tabacchi, PhD Cornell University 2 The 2013 Global Spa & Wellness Summit SPIRIT OF THE SUMMIT The “spirit” of the Global Spa & Wellness Summit is one of shared purpose rather than individual gain. It is a willingness to put aside our competitive egos and personal business goals while we join together and spend time shaping the future of the spa and wellness industries. Designed to be a high-level gathering of top industry executives, the invitation- only Summit brings together decision makers from around the world. Everyone contributes his or her time and expertise, as well as resources to help fund the Summit and make it a success. All Summit delegates are asked to attend the entire Summit so that conversations and problem solving can build. All delegates, including members of the board, pay registration fees, and cover travel expenses and accommodations. Only in rare cases where a delegate attends a single session in order to provide expertise, or a speaker has been expressly invited to share knowledge on a specific topic, would there be any exceptions. Speakers, presenters and panelists have been asked to refrain from promoting themselves and their businesses during presentations. Because of the intimate setting, and the efforts to provide numerous networking opportunities, we feel that there is no need to mention one’s own company during presentations, Delegate Directory 3 speeches or discussions from the podium. Self-promotional efforts of any kind are considered a serious breach of the spirit of the gathering. Although contact information is provided through the delegate notebooks to encourage relationships post-Summit, no electronic mailing lists are sent out, and any effort on the part of a delegate to aggregate email addresses for promotional purposes would be considered cause to be excluded from future Summits. Each year we welcome a few major sponsors. These important supporters are, in essence, partners who share the mission of the Summit and generously help offset costs. While physical visibility for sponsors is limited, we heartily encourage delegates to personally thank them during and after the Summit and support them with their business whenever possible. Let us now engage in the important work of exchanging ideas, debating, and collaborating for the good of our industry, the consumers we serve, and the planet we share. Thank you in advance for embracing the “Spirit of the Summit.” 4 The 2013 Global Spa & Wellness Summit DIRECTORY DELEGATES LISTED BY COMPANY • Air India Limited, Pankaj Srivastava • Air India Limited, Anil Mehta • Aloys F. 2013 Trend Report TOP 10 GLOBAL SPA & WELLNEss TRENDS FORECAst 2013 Trend Report TOP 10 GLOBAL SPA & WELLNEss TRENDS FORECAst SpaFinder® Wellness’ annual forecast of global spa and wellness trends celebrates its 10th year with the 2013 report. Over this extraordinary decade, our goal has been to identify the most important, provocative ideas brewing across the global spa/wellness space that are poised to impact businesses and their clients, not only in the year ahead—but beyond. When we unveiled our first trend forecast a decade ago, the industry was in a different era. There was a focus on beauty and pampering, medical spas were a new concept and the thought of spas as centers for wellness—and the idea of wellness tourism—was just emerging. This year’s report makes it startlingly obvious how far we have evolved, how sophisticated spas and consumers have become and how walls are literally being broken down. We are excited to forecast a dramatically changed world where Susie Ellis the industry fully embraces its role in helping people find wellness modalities President, SpaFinder Wellness, that can transform their lives, from “Healthy Hotels” to “Earthing” to “Spa- Inc., and Chairman & CEO, Genomics.” But it’s also a world where men will increasingly seek anti-aging Global Spa & Wellness Summit treatments at the same medical spas they might not have considered just 10 years ago. We hope you enjoy and benefit from the 2013 forecast. I can’t think of a better time to be part of the exciting world of spa and wellness! “Be united, persevere, and achieve self-Government, so that the millions now perishing by poverty, famine, and plague may be saved, and India may once more occupy her proud position of yore among the greatest and civilized nations of the world” – Dr. Dadabhai Naoroji Dear Seniors, Professional Colleagues & students, Today is the 164th birth anniversary of Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak, who was famously described as the ‘Maker of Modern India’ by Mahatma Gandhi. Lokamanya Tilak’s visionary theory of nationalist economics is the most relevant in achieving self-reliance and making of “Aatma Nirbhar Bharat”. The current pandemic and its worst after effects on Indian economy are yet to be visibly seen and 1at this time it is essential to keep focus on the economic aspect of Swadeshi as laid down by Lokmanya Tilak and plan accordingly. Apprehending the worst after effects of pandemic the Government through the Aatma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyan (ANBA) has announced flurry of measures, legislative and financial, for agriculture and allied sectors, industries from various sectors, especially, Civil Aviation, defence, energy, housing, social sectors, etc. to reset Indian economy to a positive restart. Company Secretary, being a pivot profession in nation building is rightly placed to become a catalyst in the making of ANBA and become a reckoning financial power house of the world. The Focus issue in hand, brings various aspects of ANBA and role of Company Secretary in making it a great success. In short, we must tighten our belts to make abovementioned but modified quote of the Grand Old Man of India, Dr.

A cardinal principle for the ancient Hindus was that there is no dividing line in human personality between the mind and the body. The mind is body and the body is mind. The authenticity and our commitment to this ancient life system are evident in the use of age-old herbal powders; herbal oils, brass vessels, wooden beds, treatment rituals and qualified therapists trained in traditional Ayurvedic schools.

You see, it’s where we started Torganising holidays some forty years ago. Although our range is now truly global, we still have a special affinity for the Indian Subcontinent. For its sights, for its sounds, its colours and its peoples, a melting pot of magic that after all these years continues to cast an enduring spell.
