PR Document 2020 Japanese Super Formula Championship Series Media Information August 27 2020 1 Super Formula : Then and Now In the 1950s, the Fédération Internationale de I’Automobile (FIA) launched the Drivers’ Championship to find the world’s fastest formula car drivers the purest form of racing machine. That ethos was passed on to all FIA national member organizations.Top-level formula motor racing has been held in Japan in various forms since 1973, when Formula 2000 was first launched. The competition evolved into Formula Two in 1978 and then Formula 3000 in 1987. Japan Race Promotion, Inc. (JRP) was established in 1995 and continued carrying the competition torch in 1996 under the name of Formula Nippon. In 2013, the name of the competition was changed again to Japanese Championship Super Formula and a bold plan was implemented to upgrade the race cars and lift the profile of the competition with the clear aim of spreading the appeal of Super Formula from Japan to other parts of Asia. Another hope was to turn the series into a third great open-wheel racing competition to go along with Formula One and IndyCar. The competition’s name was changed again in 2016 to Japanese Super Formula Championship. In 2017, BS Fuji began broadcasting live Super Formula races, giving many motorsport fans the chance to watch championship races on free-to-air television. In the early days, formula racing in Japan was led by top drivers such as Kunimitsu Takahashi, Kazuyoshi Hoshino and Satoru Nakajima, who later competed on the global stage in Formula One. -

Press Kit 2018 // introduction Launched in 2016 by Renault Sport Racing and Renault Sport Formula One Team, the Renault Sport Academy is tasked with discovering and nurturing young driver talent through the racing ranks, where, ultimately, Renault Sport Formula One Team aims to find drivers able to deliver the team world championship titles. Drivers are selected on ability and potential, with the Academy able to draw upon Renault Sport Racing’s vast experience in motorsport as well as its global markets to find such talent. Mia Sharizman manages the programme and has a range of experience in motorsport including at Formula 1, Formula 2 and GP3 level. For 2018, the Academy has retained four drivers from its 2017 intake. Jack Aitken, a member since its inception in 2016, signs for a third year, as does Sun Yue Yang. Max Fewtrell and Christian Lundgaard both impressed in their first seasons with the Academy and both remain for a second year. The Academy is delighted to welcome three new drivers to the programme. As part of his prize for winning the highly-competitive Formula Renault Eurocup, Sacha Fenestraz has agreed to accept a place with the Academy. Arthur Rougier, winner of the 2017 French Formula 4 Championship, is on-board for 2018, alongside Victor Martins, runner-up to Arthur in his rookie season of single-seater racing. Four members will go wheel to wheel in the Formula Renault Eurocup in 2018 with Max, Christian, Arthur and Victor all set to contest the exciting series that races on nine Grand Prix circuits, including the streets of Monaco. -

#12 PREVIEW Hungary 27/28/29 July 2018 Hungaroring Summary Cyril Abiteboul / Bob Bell / Nico Hülkenberg / Carlos Sainz / Academy / Track Notes / History Foreword Cyril Abiteboul As the last race prior to the start of the summer break, the Hungarian Grand Prix acts as a good opportunity to gain some ground in the standings. We’re just over halfway through 2018, which has proved interesting, yet challenging in our push for fourth place in the Constructors’ Championship. We enter Budapest on the back of a good result in Germany. Ten points meant we extended our advantage Cyril Abiteboul Renault Sport Racing to over 20 points over our nearest rivals, but there’s still a long way to go and a lot of hard work to follow if Managing Director we are to maintain this slender gap. Before we can start to think about the summer break, we must get through this tricky race on the calendar. We know the Hungaroring is a challenging circuit for a number of reasons, but like any round, we go there with a sense of optimism and high standards. Then we have an important two-day test following the race, an extra period of time to learn more about our car and to give our Test & Development Driver Artem Markelov the opportunity to sample modern Formula 1 machinery for the first time; a natural next step for his career. WELCOME BACK TO BAKU Dear friends, On behalf of Baku City Circuit, please let me welcome you to the third successive Formula 1 race weekend in Azerbaijan. Last year’s race in Baku was widely recognised as the most exciting and dramatic race of the year – if not the decade – by members of the media, teams, drivers and the global F1 fanbase alike. It truly was a race that had it all culminating in the most unexpected podium line up in many years. The fact that this historic race occurred under our new event title as the FORMULA 1 AZERBAIJAN GRAND PRIX filled us with an even greater sense of pride and satisfaction for a job well done. This year we once again welcome the world to Baku at the slightly earlier date of late April to bear witness to the awe-inspiring sight of F1 cars negotiating one of the fastest and most testing circuits in Formula 1. Baku City Circuit’s winding, narrow sequences, 90-degree turns and high-speed straights - all set against the breath- taking backdrop of Baku’s UNESCO-protected old city, magnificent skylines and beautiful seaside promenade - have proven to be a major challenge to the current F1 grid, resulting in last year’s spectacular outcome and many on-track altercations. We are very confident of a similar explosion of drama, speed and bravery occurring once again for the 2018 edition. Furthermore, the off-track entertainment will be bigger and better than ever before with world-class music, visual and conceptual artists once again performing all along the specially constructed Fan Zone all weekend. -
