P.: Will the Minister of SHIPPING be pleased to state: ,r'i-d-qfts-6-{ {f (a) the details of various schemes and projects implemented by the Government to improve inland water transport in the country; (b) whether a special scheme to enhance the logistical capability in the waterways of Kerala and Lakshadweep has been initiated by the Government; and (c) if so, the details thereof? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE (INDEPENDENT CHARGE) FOR SHIPPING (SHRI MANSUKH MANDAVIYA) (a) To promote inland water transport in the country as an economical, environment friendly supplementary mode of transport to rail and road, 111 inland waterways (including 5 National Waterways declared earlier) have been declared under the National Waterways Act, 20'16. The details of projects undertaken on these National Waterways is given at Annex-1. (b) &(c) West Coast Canal from Kottapuram to Kollam along with Champakara & Udyogmandal canal in Kerala is NW-3 having total length of 205 km (further extended by '165 km from Kottapuram to Kozhikode by the National Watenrays Act, 2016). lnland Waterways Authority of lndia (lWAl) has already constructed nine permanent terminals (Kerala) on NW-3 viz., Kottapuram, Aluva, Maradu, Vaikkom, Thanneermukkom, Thrikku n napuzha, Alapuzha, Kayamkulam and Kollam with cargo storing and loading/ unloading crane/ equipments. ln addition, there are two terminals at Bolghatty & Willingdon island in the C;ochin Port Trust limit for container traffic through Ro-Ro / Lo-Lo service. -

Process of Postal Balloting at Facilitation Center
THIS FACILITY WILL BE AVAILABLE FROM 01ST APRIL TO03RD APRIL 2021 PROCESS OF POSTAL BALLOTING AT FACILITATION CENTER ❖ Fill Form 12 and submit at Facilitation center fill along with the following documents (Required part number and serial number of the voter can be checked at ( hps://electoralsearch.in/ or hps://voterportal.eci.gov.in ) ➢ Copy of Election posting order ➢ Voters ID Card ❖ Postal Ballot will be issued from the Facilitation center after verifying your identity. ❖ After receiving his or her postal ballot, the voter shall go into the voting compartment and mark the postal ballot in secrecy. ❖ He shall write the serial number of the postal ballot paper, if not already filled up, in the space provided for the same in the declaration in FORM 13A and on the envelope in which the polled postal ballot is kept. ❖ He shall then keep the marked postal ballot in the inner envelope (Form 13B - Cover A) meant for this purpose and seal it properly. ❖ The voter shall thereafter sign the declaration in FORM- 13A, write his/her postal address of registration in the electoral roll, write his name in the space provided and get it aested by a gazeed officer whose service will be available at the facilitation Center. The polled postal ballot should not be shown to the officer whose aestation is obtained on the declaration in FORM 13A. ❖ He shall then keep the sealed inner envelope containing the polled postal ballot and the declaration in FORM13A, duly signed and aested, in the bigger envelope (Form 13C - Cover B) and seal this as well. -

1. Introduction
1. INTRODUCTION 1.1. History Kasaragod, the northernmost district of Kerala, is endowed with rich natural resources and is noted for its majestic forts, ravishing rivers, hills, green valleys and beautiful beaches. The rich and varied cultural heritage of the district is portrayed through spectacular presentations of Theyyam, Yakshagana, Poorakkali, Kolkali and Mappilappattu. Seven languages are prevalent in Kasaragod. Malayalam is the administrative language. Other languages are Kannada, Tulu, Konkani, Marati, Urdu and Beary.Prior to State reorganization, Kasaragod was part of the South Kanara district.Kasaragod became a part of Malabar district following the reorganization of States and formation of unified Kerala State. Later, Kasaragod Taluk of Malabar district was bifurcated in to Kasaragod and Hosdurg Taluks and integrated with the then newly formed Cannanore district. Kasaragod became part of Kerala following the re-organization of states and formation of Kerala in 1st November 1956.The district was Kasaragod Taluk in Kannur District.The formation of Kasaragod district was a long felt ambition of the people.It is with the intention of bestowing maximum attention on the development of backward area, Kasaragod district was formed on 24th May,1984 as per GO (MS)No.520/84/RD, Dated 19.05.1984 by taking Kasaragod and Hosdurg taluks from the then Kannur district.The name Kasaragod is said to be derived from the word Kasaragod which means Nuxvemied Forest(Kanjirakuttam). 1.2. Physiography Kasaragod is bounded on the north and the east by Dakshina Kannada and Coorg districts of Karnataka State, on the south by Kannur district and on the west by the Lakshadweep Sea. -
