Shepherd of Souls AFC * Parish News & Events

A Note from Fr. Jeff Horejsi …. We continue to celebrate Easter on this Third Sunday of Easter. Bishop LeVoir has extended the suspension of public Masses in the Diocese through May 4. All Catholics are dispensed from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass through this period. We continue to pray that COVID-19 will be overcome, that all who work in the medical field will be given the strength they need to treat everyone, and that we will soon be able to gather together for prayer and events. Everything will be canceled at our churches for the foreseeable future. Please stay informed through our website, www.shepherdofsouls.org. During the stay at home order, we will be streaming mass live every Saturday at 4:30PM using Facebook Live. You can follow us at https://www.facebook.com/groups/1879151002348951/. Request to join the group and one of the administrators will accept your request. If you do not have a Facebook account, you can sign up for one by clicking on the link above and selecting Create New Account. The video will also be posted to a YouTube video on our website after the mass is over. Even though we will not be gathering together for prayer, please pray at home. Daily Mass is available on EWTN and online at www.wordonfire.org/daily-mass. Daily Scriptures can be found at www.usccb.org by clicking on the day of the calendar on the right. There are many videos that will build faith available through Formed. It is available through our www.shepherdofsouls.org website. Up-to- date information pertaining to the coronavirus, including diocesan announcements, prayers, links to online and television Masses, and other resources, can be found on the Diocese of New Ulm website, www.dnu.org/covid19. Our churches will be open during the week and on Sundays for those who would like to come to pray. We have posters on the doors to remind everyone to keep at least 6 feet apart from others. Fr. Brian and I will offer Mass privately for all our parishioners. Bishop LeVoir will be recording the annual White Mass for health care professionals. The Mass will be available on the diocesan website (www.dnu.org) on April 28, (feast of St. Gianna Beretta Molla, patroness of the New Ulm Guild of the Catholic Medical Association). I encourage health care personnel to view this Mass, as well as a message from the diocesan guild president of the Catholic Medical Association, Dr. Frani Knowles. If you have questions or want more information about the CMA guild, contact Dr. Knowles at 507-276-3070. This Mass takes on a particular importance as an opportunity to pray for our health care personnel who are the front lines battling the COVID-19 pandemic.

Fr. Brian and I are available for the sacrament of Reconciliation or other pastoral needs. You may call our cell phones: Fr. Jeff 320-221-4120, and Fr. Brian 320-905-6529.

Our Diocese has received a grant to help people in particular need due to the COVID-19 pandemic. While we are limiting assistance grants to $200 initially, we will revisit specific hardship cases to consider additional assistance, based on household sizes and related Pandemic challenges. If you would like to apply for assistance, please call Fr. Jeff 320-221-4120.

Again, I want to thank you for your continued financial gifts to your parish. Any donations can be mailed or made online at https://www.shepherdofsouls.org/donate. Please specify the name of the parish or fund you are donating to in the comments area.
