FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR 2013 was another strong year for VHF delivering effective programs and events, sharing insight with City Council, municipal staff and the wider public on just how much Vancouverites care about heritage, and engaging people in the local and personal history of the city through the Places That Matter plaques. Joining VHF for the last quarter of 2013, I had the opportunity to follow through programs already in stream, and to begin to evaluate and plan how VHF can continue to renew and strengthen its impact on outcomes for older buildings in Vancouver. VHF has made strides in transforming our communications in 2013, further developing our ability to raise the profile of heritage among a wider audience. Communications that educate about and celebrate Vancouver’s history, built heritage and heritage conservation are an important part of what VHF does. A positive financial position, with generous support from sponsors, donors, the City of Vancouver and grants as well as program revenue and endowment income puts VHF in a good place to continue strong programming and impactful special initiatives. There are numerous ways to get involved and support VHF. We are always interested to hear about potential partnerships with those who support our goals so please contact us with your ideas. Volunteer help is essential to the delivery of our programs and VHF is fortunate to have the support of many who returned again in 2013 to assist with key events and tasks. I hope reading this report will inspire you to attend one of our events, volunteer your time, make a donation or become a sponsor. We value each and every contribution so please get in touch.
