Martin Fox apologized for his actions during an appearance before a Boston judge via video conference because of the coronavirus pandemic. “I’m ashamed for what I’ve done. My parents raised me better than this,” Fox said. The Houston man pleaded guilty last year to a racketeering conspiracy charge in a deal with prosecutors. Prosecutors had asked for a sen- tence of six months behind bars. Fox’s lawyers urged the judge for leniency, saying he has a medical condition and and will be at risk behind bars because of the virus. Fox acted as a middleman between the accused admissions consultant at the center of the scheme, Rick Singer, and coaches and a test administrator to facilitate cheating on children’s college entrance exams or help kids get into school as recruited athletics, prosecutors said. G-20 agrees on framework for ‘Most remote island’ creates more debt relief amid COVID-19 massive marine protection zone By Isabel Debre Associated Press

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — The Group of 20 nations, represent- ing the world’s biggest economies, announced Friday that low-income countries hardest hit by the fallout of the coronavirus pandemic could potentially get an extension on their debt payments beyond mid-2021, and in the most severe cases, a debt write-off. The G-20 statement, released after a virtual gathering of the group’s finance ministers and central bank governors, declared that the coun- tries had agreed on a “common framework” for “timely and orderly” debt restructuring that aims to treat creditors equally and negotiate debt on a case-by-case basis. But it did not specify which credi- tors would agree to possible debt cancellation. China, for instance, has repeatedly objected to portions of the debt relief plans. The country, considered to be Africa’s largest creditor, is reluctant to give up the billions it is owed from its politically strategic projects across the develop- ing world as its own economy slows. The meeting comes a month Photos by Andy Schofield | Pew Charitable Trust via AP after the G-20 agreed to suspend Northern rockhopper penguins on the island of Tristan da Cunha in the South Atlantic.
