Text: 00:30 No matter whether the Wenzel’s square, the national museum, the astronomic clock or the Karl’s bridge the capital of the is a tourist magnet and the boom town number one.

With its 1.2m inhabitants and an increase of population of 6,000 people alone in the first half of 2005, Prague has transformed into a vibrating metropolitan city.

Next to the new modern buildings that spring up everywhere in the city, you can find old houses and decayed factories at every corner.

01:04 The opening of Eastern Europe has turned out to be very fortunate for German companies. Many companies have discovered Eastern Europe as business place.

Among them, IS a German company that started up a subsidiary in the Czech Republic in August 2005.

Its headquarters are in Nuremberg.

01:25 With 350 employees, the company plans and constructs for other companies among other things in the areas of construction and automatization technology.

01:37 Since the beginning of the year, the company has a new advertising department, which saves costs and brings new orders.

01:50 Peter Dinstühler, managing director, looks more and more often into new markets.

02:46 There are no direct flights between Nuremberg and Prague. However, it takes only 3 hours by car.

Since August 05, the company has been based on the 7th floor of the so-called Stim Building, in the heart of the Czech capital, just like many other companies from Western Europe.

03:00 Especially in the beginning of the new subsidiary, regular meetings and talks are on the agenda. Most of the support comes from their Austrian colleagues.

Quote / interview Managing director IS Austria Eduard Mohr

04:09 Mr. Telecki-Zaniewcz, an employee from Vienna and the company’s expert for Eastern Europe plays a vital part in the planning of the strategic business moves.

One question is particularly interesting: How to find as soon as possible skilled employees? Unlike in Germany, there are more vacant positions than job hunters. Skilled workers can easily find a job and the unemployment rate is as low as 3%.

Quote / interview Managing director IS Czech Republic Erik Moravec

04:50 Since one of the job requirements is good German skills, the job offers will be placed in Germany.

IS is interested in doing business with the Czech construction giant Metrostav in order to get business started in Prague. Today the managing director meets with the big Czech company in person in order to establish business relations.

05:24 Metrostav is known in the Czech Republic especially for building the system. As part of the EU enlargement to the East, the city was modernized and glossed. Demand is high. The foundation of business cooperation has been laid.

They get along well, want to start business and tackle as soon as possible their first joint project.
