CHALLENGE TROPHIES*** The following trophies are open only to dogs owned or co-owned by members in good standing of the Old English Sheepdog Club of America. All trophies listed as perpetual trophies have been in competition prior to September 9, 1952 and cannot be won outright. Trophies that can be retired through multiple wins are listed as such, with the conditions for their retirement. All perpetual and multiple win trophies must be returned to the Secretary of the Old English Sheepdog Club of America immediately after awards have been presented and photographs are taken. After certification by an authorized official of the Old English Sheepdog Club of America that the conditions for a multiple win trophy have been met, the trophy will be returned for permanent possession by the certified winner. A permanent memento will be awarded to the winner of each perpetual or multiple win trophy.

BEST OF BREED. The Old English Sheepdog Club of America offers as a perpetual trophy, a Club Sterling Silver Punch Bowl known as the Club’s Challenge Cup that is offered for competition at each Specialty Show of the Old English Sheepdog Club of America. BEST OF OPPOSITE SEX TO BEST OF BREED. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Baer offer the Silver Plated Dublin Bowl known as the CH Bonnie Blue of Saltbox Memorial Trophy. Multiple win trophy. For permanent possession, it must be won three (3) times by the same owner, not necessarily with the same dog nor at consecutive shows. BEST OF WINNERS. Tenacre Kennels offers a Sterling Silver Sheepdog Statue on a Pedestal known as the Tenacre Kennel Trophy, which is offered at each Specialty Show of the Old English Sheepdog Club of America. Perpetual trophy. WINNERS DOG. The Midlands Old English Sheepdog Club of England offers as a multiple win trophy the Midlands Old English Sheepdog Club Trophy (cut crystal decanter with two glasses). For permanent possession it must be won three (3) times by the same owner, not necessarily at consecutive shows. WINNERS BITCH. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Lesslie offer a Silver Plated Wine Cooler known as the CH Fezziwig Bonnie Blue Flag Memorial Trophy. This trophy is offered at each Specialty Show of the Old English Sheepdog Club of America. Multiple win trophy. The Old English Sheepdog Club of America offers a Sterling Silver Bowl known as the Hope Robinson Hitchcock Memorial Trophy. This trophy is offered for competition at each Specialty Show of the Old English Sheepdog Club of America. Perpetual trophy. To be awarded, three (3) or more dogs must compete. FIRST PLACE IN AMERICAN BRED BITCH CLASS. Willinez Weather Kennels offers a Sterling Silver Cup known as the Reginald F Mayhew Memorial Trophy. This Cup is offered for competition at each Specialty Show of the Old English Sheepdog Club of America. Perpetual trophy. To be awarded, three (3) or more bitches must compete. BEST BRED-BY EXHIBITOR IN REGULAR CLASSES. Ann James Freelander offers as a multiple win trophy the Caj Haakansson Bred-By-Exhibitor Memorial Trophy (silver chased bowl). This trophy is awarded to the Best Bred-By-Exhibitor dog or bitch from the regular classes at the annual National Specialty Show of the Old English Sheepdog Club of America. UD Memorial Trophy (Crystal and Oak) is for the highest scoring dog in the regular classes. The trophy is offered for competition at all specialty shows of the Old English Sheepdog Club of America. JUNIOR SHOWMANSHIP COMPETITION TROPHIES The Old English Sheepdog Club of America through the generosity of its members and friends. Trophy donors will be acknowledged in the show catalog.

BEST JUNIOR HANDLER. The Gompertz Family offers as a multiple win trophy the Junior Showmanship Challenge Trophy (bronze figure). It is awarded to the highest ranked junior hander at the National Specialty Show of the Old English Sheepdog Club of America. For permanent possession, it must be won three times by the same handler. Wins must occur in one of the two categories and need not be consecutive.

Best Junior Handler- Rosette and Theme Tile First thru Fourth in Each Class. Rosette and Theme Tile 11 The 2019 Most Versatile Performance Old English Sheepdog Competition Eligibility to be eligible for this competition, an Old English Sheepdog must participate in at least two of the four performance events offered at the 2019 OESCA National Specialty (herding, agility, obedience, and rally) and the dog must specifically pre-entered in this competition for scores to count (see entry form). Entry Fee: $10.00 payable to “2019 OESCA Show” Closing: Wed. August 21, 2019, 6:00 PM EST. The OES need not be handled by the same person in all events. 2. The OES needs a qualifying score* (as defined below) in at least two performance events to be in contention for the award. 3. The winner will receive a Rosette and Theme Tile The scoring system is as follows: HERDING Both Trial and Test Classes will count towards the competition. Only the highest qualifying score counts. If a qualifying score is received in more than one herding trial, when offered, only the highest score from one trial will count. • Herding Advanced (HX): total score plus 15 points. • Herding Intermediate (HI) Total score plus 10 points. • Herding Started (HS): Total score plus 5 points. • Pre-trial Test (PT): 60 points. • Herding Test (HT): 40 points. • Instinct Tests (no title); 20 points. • High in Trial winner will be awarded an additional 5 points. AGILITY Only the highest qualifying score of a dog’s qualifying agility scores will be counted in this event. • Excellent-Standard, JWW and FAST (preferred or regular): Total score plus 15 points • Open-Standard, JWW and FAST (preferred or regular): Total score plus 10 points. • Novice-Standard, JWW and FAST (preferred or regular): Total score plus 5 points. • T2B (preferred or regular): Total points awarded multiplied by 10. • A dog that qualifies in 2 out of the 4 classes will be awarded an additional 5 points. • A dog that qualifies in 3 out of 4 classes will be awarded an additional 8 points. • A dog that qualifies 4 out of 4 classes will be awarded an additional 10 points. • High in Trial winner will be awarded an additional 5 points. OBEDIENCE: Only the highest qualifying score of a dog’s qualifying score of a dog’s qualifying obedience scores will be counted in this event regular, optional titling and non-regular classes will all count towards this competition. • Utility: 50% of total score plus 15 points. • Open: 50% of total score plus 10 points. • Novice or Veterans: 50% of total score plus 5 points. • Beginner Novice or Preferred Novice: 50% of total score. • Graduate Novice, Preferred Open, Preferred Utility or Versatility: 50% of total score plus 7 points. • A dog that qualifies in both Utility B and Open B will be awarded 5 points. • High in Trial winner will be awarded an additional 5 points. • High Combined Score winner will be awarded an additional 5 points. RALLY: Only the highest qualifying score of a dog’s qualifying rally scores will be counted in this event. • Rally Excellent: Total score plus 10 points. • Rally Advanced: Total score plus 5 points. • Rally Novice: Total score. • A dog that qualifies in both Advanced B and Excellent B will be awarded 5 points. • Qualifying Scores defined: For the purpose of this competition, “qualifying score” means any score of 170 or higher In AKC obedience in any of the regular, optional titling or non-regular obedience classes offered, with the exception of Brace, when offered. In AKC rally, a qualifying score is a score of 70 points or higher. In agility and herding, standard AKC requirements for earning qualifying score apply in all classes offered at all levels. Test class passes are assigned points as designated in the scoring section.

20 General Information

Day of Show Parking Our parking will be in Lot C at the Fairgrounds. There is no charge for parking at the Fairgrounds on Monday or Tuesday. Starting on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, there is an $8.00 charge per car/van for other events. The Show Committee will have a parking pass for you to put on your dashboard for our OESCA event to continue free parking at the Fairgrounds for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Parking passes will be available in the San Marcos Building on Monday and Tuesday. If you are unable to pick up a pass by then, please contact a member of the Show Committee for pick up information. Note – there will be a Swap Meet in Lot A on Wednesday and off track betting in the Derby Club. Those cars should be parked in Lot A. Due to the Swap Meet on Wednesday, you may need to allow a little extra time to enter the Fairgrounds.

Unloading: The show site will be available to exhibitors and vendors after 2PM on Monday, September 23rd until 5 PM If you are available to assist the Specialty Committee on Monday morning, September 23 with help in setting up , please contact Kristi Marshall (661) 433-9040.

Also Tuesday September 24th the show site will be available to exhibitors and vendors starting 8 AM (grooming permitted but no dryers can be used during performance classes)

First Come – first served, 3 raised tubs and one special tub area on the floor. They provide shampoo (or bring your own), fresh towels, aprons, and blow dryers included. 21 4-6 Month Beginner Puppy Event $23…Close of Entries: August 21, 2019 Noon PT Section 1- Classifications The Four-to-Six Month Puppy competition shall be for dogs that are four months of age and over but under six months on the day of the event. Classes will be offered for breeds and varieties and divided into Groups as described in Chapter 3, Section 1 of the Rules Applying to Dog Shows and the Miscellaneous Class breeds as listed in Chapter 3, Section 23. The Miscellaneous class competition will be the equivalent of Group competition and the winner will be eligible to compete in Best Four-to-Six Month Puppy in Show. The FSS competition will be the equivalent of Group competition and the winner will be eligible to compete in Best Four- to-Six Month Puppy in Show.

Section 2 – Entry and Eligibility Entry and eligibility requirements include: • The Four-to-Six Month Puppy event may be offered at licensed or member dog shows at the option of the show giving club. • Four-to-Six Month Puppy Competition must be listed in the premium list, entry form and judging schedule, if offered. • Closing date and time for this competition may be listed as any date and time prior to the event including the same day as the event and must be listed in the premium list, entry form and judging schedule. • AKC registration number or an AKC litter number will be required for entries of an AKC recognized • breed as listed in Chapter 3, Section 1 of the Rules Applying to Dog Shows. • A foreign born dog may enter this class if they are registered in the country of origin. • FSS number or FSS registered litter number will be required for Miscellaneous and FSS breed entries. • All entrants are to be vaccinated (including rabies) in accordance with their veterinarian’s protocol. • Dogs that are owned or co-owned by a professional handler may compete in this class, but must be handled by a non-professional handler. 26 ADDITIONAL RULES 1. Entries must reach the Superintendent, Jack Bradshaw, 5434 East Olympic Boulevard, Los Angeles CA, 90022, by Noon, Wednesday August 21, 2019 PT. Fees should accompany entries. This club and/or its superintendent assume no responsibility for wrong or incomplete information given on the entry blank by the owner or agent of the owner. This club and its superintendents assume no responsibility for the owner or owner's agents entering a dog in a class in which the dog is not eligible to compete, or for entering the same dog twice. 2. Returned Checks do not constitute a valid entry fee. The Superintendent will add a collection fee to the amount of each returned check and declined credit card. Subsequent returned checks for the same exhibitors4may result in their being put on a CASH ONLY basis. The returned check or declined credit card MUST BE MADE GOOD by cash or money order BEFORE the dog will be allowed in the ring. 3. Judging programs will be mailed to the address given on the entry blank. If not received within a reasonable time prior to the show, notify the superintendent. Envelopes returned by the Post Office marked 'undeliverable' will be held at the Superintendent's Office. 4. During the hours of judging owners are to be on call, and have their dogs ready to bring into the judging ring promptly, in order that the judging will not be delayed. Dogs need only be present for their judging. Dogs not needed for further judging may be excused. It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to have his dog ready to be shown and at the entrance of the judging ring when the steward calls for the class. Owners of dogs or the handlers of the dogs alone are responsible for the presence of their dogs in the judging rings. This means it is not the responsibility of the ring steward, nor of any agent of the show-giving club to locate any dog, its owner or handler, when the dog's presence is needed in a judging ring. It should be understood by every exhibitor and handler that waiting for dogs to be brought into the ring is a courtesy extended to the owner or handler of the dog. There is no rule of this club nor of The American Kennel Club that requires a judge to wait for an owner or handler to bring his dog into the ring. Show hours 7 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. 5. Trophies and prizes will be awarded in the judging ring before the completion of the judging of the breed and the superintendent's office advised at once, in the event of any discrepancy. All trophies must be claimed the day of the show. None will be mailed. 6. Exhibitors are admonished to make themselves familiar with the agreement of the American Kennel Club, referred to on the reverse side of the entry blanks that accompany this premium list. Rule books are available at www.akc.org. 7. The club, its superintendents or their employees will not be responsible for the loss of or damage to any dog exhibited, whether the result of accident or other causes and in addition assumes no responsibility for any loss, damage or injury sustained by an exhibitor or handler. It is distinctly understood that every dog at this show is in the care and custody and control of his owner or handler during the entire time the dog is on the show premises. 8. No grooming tables, pens or exhibitors setups will be allowed in the aisles and all grooming must be done away from the judging ring in areas specified by the club. 9. Entry fees shall not be refunded in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, sick, lame, excused by veterinarian or judge, barred from competition by action of the Bench Show Committee, or because the dog is ineligible to compete due to being entered incorrectly. There is no refund of entry fee for duplicate entry. There will be a $4.00 fee charged for cancellation of entry prior to closing of entries. 10. There is no provision offered for un-entered dogs at this show. 11. Declination of Entries. The club(s) may decline any entries for cause and may refuse to receive or may remove any dog on account of disease, viciousness or other causes, and no one shall have any claim or recourse against or any official thereof. 12. If, because of riots, civil disturbances or other acts beyond the control of the management, it is impossible to open or complete the show, no refund of entry will be made. 13. Do not leave any dogs in closed vehicles. 14. Dogs which according to their owners' records have completed the requirements for a championship after the closing of entries for the show but whose championships are unconfirmed, may be transferred from one of the regular classes to the Best of Breed or Variety Competition, provided this transfer is made by the Superintendent at least one half hour prior to the start of the earliest Conformation judging at the Show. 15. Junior Handlers who win a third Novice Class after the Closing of entries for a show may transfer their entry from the Novice Class to the Open Class provided that this transfer is made by the Superintendent at least one half-hour prior to the scheduled start of the earliest conformation judging or one half-hour prior to the scheduled start of Junior Showmanship judging at the Show, whichever is earlier. 16. No set-ups within 20 feet of any ring or in areas the show committee deems to be interfering. 17. Grass in the arena is watered nightly. Please remove anything you do not want to get wet. 18. Practicing is not allowed in rings at any time. 19. Parents and/or Guardians are responsible for the actions of their children. 20. No dogs are to be left in the building overnight.
