  • USPHL”) Is Pleased to Announce That Tryouts for the League’S Inaugural Season Will Begin in April
United States Premier Hockey League Announces Tryouts The United States Premier Hockey League Membership (“USPHL”) is pleased to announce that tryouts for the league’s inaugural season will begin in April. The USPHL will host three levels of hockey – 16U and 18U Midget Level and 20U registered under USA Hockey’s Senior League Registration Process in which players of birth years 1993, 1994 and 1995 are eligible. The USPHL organizations intend to maintain teams in their existing junior leagues including the Eastern Junior Hockey League and Empire Junior Hockey League where applicable. The USPHL will commence competition in September of 2013 The USPHL members have each developed a complete player development model where at present over 2,000 boys and girls train, compete and enjoy the sport of ice hockey. These programs go beyond the on ice experience to include education, leadership and community service components to help foster a complete student athlete. The member organizations believe the USPHL will provide the next step in high performance training and competition and will provide unmatched exposure to NCAA hockey programs for young aspiring hockey players. Please visit the USPHL website at www.usphl.com or the member organizations for specific information regarding the registration and tryout process. • 2011-12 Manhattanville Men’S Hockey Media Guide Quick Facts and Contents Table of Contents on the Cover Quick Facts Quick Facts & Contents
A staple in the New York region and an emerging program on the nationalQuick stage, the Facts Manhattanville and College Athletic Contents Department continues to bolster its reputation as a program on the rise in all areas: athletic achievement, academic success and overall participation. More than 325 Valiant student-athletes (nearly 20 percent of the student body) took part in intercollegiate athletics during the 2010-11 school year, showcasing the continued and rapid growth of athletics at Manhattanville. With the announcement that the department will begin sponsoring women’s golf starting in 2012-13, the program has expanded to 22 intercollegiate teams – including eight new sports that have been established or re-established since 2007 alone. And teams at Manhattanville do not just compete, they win. Four teams earned conference regular-season or tournament championships in 2010-11 and three Valiant squads (women’s soccer, women’s hockey and men’s golf) appeared in the NCAA Tournament. 13 of 21 Valiant squads earned berths in their respective conference championships last year, including the eighth title in 12 seasons for the women’s hockey team and the second straight title for men’s golf. In addition, a pair of Manhattanville squads (men’s hockey and women’s hockey) spent much of the year nationally ranked while two more programs (men’s basketball and men’s golf) topped the list of teams receiving votes nationally in their respective polls over the course of the year. On an individual level, many Valiant student-athletes were honored in 2010-11 as well, including a pair of Freedom Conference Players of the Year and two Freedom Rookies of the Year to go with 32 combined All-Conference honorees.

  • United States Premier Hockey League Announces Junior Division
United States Premier Hockey League Announces Junior Division The United States Premier Hockey League announced today it will operate as an independent junior league in 2013-14, instead of its previously announced intention to operate as an adult league within USA Hockey. The USPHL intends to submit application materials to USA Hockey with the objective to begin playing as a certified junior league in 2014-15. The USPHL will sponsor three levels of hockey overall, including 16U and 18U Midgets, in addition to Juniors. The teams in the 16U and 18U Midget Divisions will remain registered through their respective USA Hockey Affiliate organizations and will play under USA Hockey Rules for league play. “It’s important to us to have an affiliation with USA Hockey and after hearing the legitimate concerns related to our plan to operate as an adult league, we felt that the best way forward was to go down the path we’ve announced today,” said Richard Gallant. “While we’ll play outside of USA Hockey for our Junior division, all of our players will be members of the organization and play under its rules. We’ll also consult with USA Hockey to provide for the proper player protection rights, player safety, the registering of import players and other matters the USPHL believes are critical in administering and executing the league.” The USPHL members have each developed a complete player development model where, at present, over 2,000 boys and girls train, compete and enjoy the sport of ice hockey. These programs go beyond the on-ice experience to include education, leadership and community service components to help foster a complete student-athlete.
