You can read and/or download it HERE. The list provides comprehensive details and web links for about 30 local shops, restaurants and other suppliers of food and take-aways. It also includes other information such as medical, pharmacy, dental and veterinary services. As the Lockdown restrictions ease further, our reporters will expand this list to include details of other shops and establishments that have opened or are about to open and any other changes in local services. The Emergency Communications Group for Goring, Streatley and South Stoke and the three parish councils have agreed that this should be the master list to be used and shared as the main source of local information of this type. The most up-to-date version will be available on the Genie website. For further information about other local services and coronavirus information and support for residents of Goring, Streatley and South Stoke please refer to the last edition of Genie’s Public Information newsletter. Local support services available during Lockdown Our local villages have been ahead of the curve in mobilizing local people to help their neighbours. As we move into a different phase of ‘lockdown’, life has taken on a different situation for many people. People who may have thought they were ‘fine thank you’ to start with, may be feeling more isolated. Other people are finding that it is better than they thought it would be. Many are also finding their needs have changed. There is still help and support available in the villages. The help is virtually the same for each village, but there are a few nuances based on being in different counties. For details of what is available click HERE and visit your parish council’s website: Goring Parish Council Streatley Parish Council South Stoke Parish Council NB: Changes to SODC Coronavirus Community Support Hub opening hours From today (Saturday 30 May), the opening hours of the SODC Community Hub will be 9am-6pm Monday to Saturday and closed on Sunday. This reflects the central government national shielded helpline opening hours. These hours will also be reflected by the Parish Councils of Goring and South Stoke with respect to receiving enquiries and requests. Help grow Bob the Bookworm I can’t believe it but there’s an actual bookworm in residence outside the library! He’s rather small at the moment but would really appreciate it if people could help him grow. Just add a pebble! Paint a pebble with a fun design, perhaps something which reminds you of a book you've read and enjoyed & add it to his tail. No age limit to participation. (Plese do not move any stones away.) There is still no date for re-opening the Library but you can read the Digital Update, detailing the many services currently available, in this PDF file. This includes the public court. To keep them open, it is vitally important that everybody using the facilities follow the rules for safe play, which are based on Government and LTA guidelines (LTA.org.uk) Play is singles only, opponents may be members of a different household Doubles may be played only if all four players live together in the same household Do not play if you should be isolating on the basis of Government guidance Wash your hands at home or sanitise with your own hand gel, before and after play You and your opponent must each bring and serve with your own tennis balls, marked as necessary. Do not touch other people’s tennis balls and use your racket or foot if you have to Remain a minimum of 2 metres away from your playing partner at all times, avoid talking at the net and no shaking of hands or physical contact with other players Avoid changing ends or change on opposite sides of the court Don't touch the gates, nets or net posts. Bring your own equipment (racket, balls and water) If all courts are in use, do not enter and wait outside the courts, at least 2m from other players. Spectating is discouraged and spectators are not allowed inside the perimeter of the courts Tennis, like any activity taken outside of your home, may increase your risk of contracting and spreading Covid- 19. Goring Tennis Club is implementing it’s own measures to minimise the risk as far as possible but we advise all players, especially those categorised as vulnerable, to consider carefully their own personal situation before deciding to play. Those who choose to play are requested to follow the above guidance for play. Court usage will be monitored and access to the courts may have to be changed if safe practice is not followed. If you have any concerns about behaviour on court please email [email protected] This twice monthly ‘Planning Alert’ lists all the current planning applications submitted to SODC (South Oxfordshire District Council) and WBC (West Berkshire Council) relating to properties in Goring, Streatley and South Stoke, and occasionally other applications that are locally relevant.
