Prof. George Vithoulkas Research - Education - Application Director: Prof. George Vithoulkas Research - Education - Application th Alonissos, 14 January 2021 Dear Dr. Helge Landmann I am responding to your document with the award “Stifterpreis der Bürgerschaft der Stadt Meißen” a bit late due to the fact that the covid-19 restrictions brought me the news and the angel quite late. I must tell from the very beginning that, though I have received numerous distinctions and awards in my life, I felt that this one was so unique like receiving a live direct message from Hahnemann that brought to my soul a fresh air from this unique Master of Medicine. I felt as if Hahnemann himself had sent his approval and recognition for my life spent totally with dedication to His spirit and His extraordinary discoveries. I felt that whoever wrote this Laudatio was a pure soul guided from our Teacher. I had always felt that this extraordinary individual Samuel Hahnemann descended to this earth to bring solace and peace to a tormented and suffering humanity. His genius and his tremendous contribution to humanity had not been appreciated so far even from his own compatriots. For me, reading his “Organon of Medicine” was like a revelation of a tremendous impact from a true healing methodology that was hidden from the eyes of humanity for two hundred years buried in the sand and hardly appreciated. Even the teachings of his best follower Dr James Tyler Kent had been hidden and lied there as a philosophical thesis rather than practical medicine. When I came in contact with the teaching of these two extraordinary individuals, an opening of my consciousness took place and together with it came the desire to make known to the world the value of His teachings. Humanity owes a lot to Him. Humanity should be forever grateful to Him as I am grateful for having given me purpose to my humble life. In Italy, for ex- ample, it is estimated that, even if with a slightly declining trend, around 4.1% of the entire population (almost 2.5 million people) occasionally or regularly seeks homeopathic care, and these data, collected in 2013, suggest that homeopathy is the most used Complemen- tary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) by Italians [1]. Epidemiological studies aimed to assess the worldwide prevalence of homeopathy use have reported similar data for other high-income countries [2]. Homeopathy was first invented by the German doctor Samuel Hahnemann (1755–1843), and it is based on the administration of remedies in which active substances are so diluted that no detectable trace of them remains in the final product [3]. Photographer: Christof Stache/AFP/Getty Images Like millions of other parents, I dutifully took my kids to see Disney’s “Frozen 2” last month, thinking nothing of it. But a few weeks later, not only am I still humming “Into the Unknown.” I am also pondering whether the company that created Donald Duck has embraced quack medicine. Let me explain. The recurring theme in “Frozen 2” is that water has memory. This idea appears time and again throughout the movie, from the very first song — the haunting lullaby “All Is Found” (“where the Northwind meets the sea, there’s a river full of memory”) — to the predictably sentimental ending. At first glance that doesn’t seem unusual; after all, this is a movie whose main characters are an ice witch, a talking snowman and a guy who can basically read his reindeer’s mind. What I found suspicious, however, is a scene where Olaf (the snowman) entertains his friends with scientific trivia: Water has memory, turtles breathe through their butts, men are six times more likely to be struck by lightning than women, and wombats poop in squares. These claims are reasonably accurate, 1 except for water memory. To make matters worse, Olaf actually insists that “it’s disputed by many, but it’s true.” Olaf’s lecture seems to support homeopathy, a system of alternative medicine that relies on the idea that water “remembers” the effects of substances that were previously dissolved in it.

In this work, a hypothesis concerning the mystifying question about this action is proposed. The hypothesis suggests that any pathology, either functional or structural, can be detected in the change of the overall energy of the human body. Such energy is constituted by fields of force according to quantum physics. More precisely, every disturbance of the human organism affects the spin on electrons of different elements within the human body, and their reset could take place with an agent similar to the electromagnetic force that created the problem.     Foundation Course in Medical Homeopathy (Dr Russell Malcolm & RLHIM Team ) Discussion Samuel Hahnemann was a scientist. His writings appear to reveal a fundamental belief in God, but in his day to day work he was humanistic in outlook and had great difficulty reconciling human suffering with the medicines available to him. His writings indicate how distressed he became when he perceived the damage that inappropriate treatment inflicted on vulnerable patients. His indignation was heightened by the knowledge that death and suffering caused by poor medical treatment, could be prevented, if medical practice was more self-critical and the knowledge base was more reliable. One of the few medical writers that Hahnemann had respect for, was the English Physician Thomas Sydenham. Sydenham had been working and writing around 140 years earlier, but had made a conscious decision to apply the scientific principles of Francis Bacon. The epistemology of clinical medicine relies heavily on observations of how ill patients respond to a treatment. Reliable conclusions can be drawn only when comparable cases are treated systematically, with preparations that are standardised. In addition the clinical observations require to be confirmed in comparable cases and compared to similar groups of individuals who are either treated differently, or left untreated. Sydenham provided ways of identifying and classifying illness into diagnostic groups and also conducted clinical trials. His most notable discovery concerned the use of Peruvian bark (quinine) in the early clinical stages of infection (epidemic haemorrhagic viral fevers, plague). By carefully recording the circumstances of each case, he was able to determine that the mortality was much higher in patients whose fever was suppressed with quinine in the first stages of the infection.

ABSTRACT JULIET L SMITH PRACTITIONER BASED INQUIRY: TAKING THE CASE OF HOMEOPATHY After twenty years of practising and teaching homeopathy, I am concerned that research into treatment by professional homeopaths has become stifled by evidence based medicine discourse. Homeopathy’s distinguishing features are obscured by erroneous assumptions that a homeopathic prescription is subject to the same biochemical pathways as pharmacological medication. Homeopaths are urged by external parties to ‘prove homeopathy works’ on biomedical terms. This reflexive inquiry is an attempt to redress the balance. From postmodern and pragmatic perspectives I reflexively engage with professional experiences (Smith, 2009) as a means of articulating practitioner based knowledge (Freshwater and Rolfe, 2001, Rolfe et al., 2001). The subjectivity of the practitioner researcher is transformed from a research problem into an opportunity to critically examine practitioner experience (Lees and Freshwater, 2008). The research process is a focus for the inquiry itself, with the intention of creating an open text that invites participation from the reader (Denzin and Lincoln, 1994). I ‘take the case’ of my own practice and its wider context, and enact a synergy of homeopathic practice and research methodologies.
