Hon. Rod Phillips Minister of Finance Frost Bldg S 7th Flr 7 Queen's Park Cres, Toronto, ON M7A 1Y7

August 18, 2020

Dear Minister Phillips

I am writing to highlight a resolution recently passed by the Council of the Municipality of Thames Centre regarding the revised criteria for assessment of aggregate resource properties. As you will see in the attached, the municipality feels that the revised criteria cannot be considered a fair method of valuation for these properties, and that there is a need to review the current assessment scheme for aggregate resource properties in order to address ongoing inequality of property values.

Minister, your consideration of the above and attached are greatly appreciated and I am available to discuss them further at your convenience.

Sincerely,

Jeff Yurek, MPP Elgin-Middlesex-London
