The researcher used descriptive qualitative method. This research focused on theory of M. Boggs and W. Petrie who talked about characterization through, appearance, dialogue, external action, internal action, reaction of other characters, contrast (dramatic foils), caricature & leitmotif, and choice of name. The data showed that there are 13 extracts found that indicated the characterization in the two characters, except the characterization through internal action. The data also showed that charaterization through internal dialogue has less data. The researcher concluded that understanding the characteristics of characters were formed by the characterization process sequentially in movie, even in others literary works. Keywords: movie, characters, characterization ix 1 CHAPTER I INTRODUCTION A. Background Literature is the works of imagination. It is similar to Esten’s opinion (1978: 9) that literature is the human expression which has positive effect to human life and uses language as medium. Townsend (1990: 60) says that literature is the imaginative fiction, and Saxby (1991: 4) adds that literature is the image of life. Based on some experts’ opinion about literature, the researcher assumes that literature is a form of expression and someone’s experience that use language as the main medium. Literature, as medium for human to express theirs, has been being improved through time. And one of its form is movie. Talking about movie, it refers to literature because movie is the kind of literature. Movie is a medium of communication that is formed by combining two senses, sight and hearing, which has a core or theme of a story that reveals many social realities that occur in neighborhood where the film itself grows. Summer and Rahayu (2014: 476), defines Movie as a roll of material which is sensitive light and which is used in camera for taking photographs or moving pictures for the cinema, a story, play, etc recorded on film to be shown in the cinema on television, etc. The reseacher concludes that movie visualizes a story or dialogue on the screen. A movie is produced by recording images from the world with cameras, or by creating images using animation technique. The movie is a fictitious story, which is one writing related literature. 2 The important element in the movie is character. Henderson et al. (1997: 9) says that character refers to the people authors create to inhabit their stories that the character should be believable and consistent. Being believable mean snot that all characters be like people we have known but they believable in the context of the story. Consistently requires not that the characters main exactly the same,

  • Crossmedia Adaptation and the Development of Continuity in the Dc Animated Universe
“INFINITE EARTHS”: CROSSMEDIA ADAPTATION AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF CONTINUITY IN THE DC ANIMATED UNIVERSE Alex Nader A Thesis Submitted to the Graduate College of Bowling Green State University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of MASTER OF ARTS May 2015 Committee: Jeff Brown, Advisor Becca Cragin © 2015 Alexander Nader All Rights Reserved iii ABSTRACT Jeff Brown, Advisor This thesis examines the process of adapting comic book properties into other visual media. I focus on the DC Animated Universe, the popular adaptation of DC Comics characters and concepts into all-ages programming. This adapted universe started with Batman: The Animated Series and comprised several shows on multiple networks, all of which fit into a shared universe based on their comic book counterparts. The adaptation of these properties is heavily reliant to intertextuality across DC Comics media. The shared universe developed within the television medium acted as an early example of comic book media adapting the idea of shared universes, a process that has been replicated with extreme financial success by DC and Marvel (in various stages of fruition). I address the process of adapting DC Comics properties in television, dividing it into “strict” or “loose” adaptations, as well as derivative adaptations that add new material to the comic book canon. This process was initially slow, exploding after the first series (Batman: The Animated Series) changed networks and Saturday morning cartoons flourished, allowing for more opportunities for producers to create content. References, crossover episodes, and the later series Justice League Unlimited allowed producers to utilize this shared universe to develop otherwise impossible adaptations that often became lasting additions to DC Comics publishing.

  • Schurken Im Batman-Universum Dieser Artikel Beschäftigt Sich Mit Den Gegenspielern Der ComicFigur „Batman“

  • Batman Miniature Game Teams
TEAMS IN Gotham MAY 2020 v1.2 Teams represent an exciting new addition to the Batman Miniature Game, and are a way of creating themed crews that represent the more famous (and infamous) groups of heroes and villains in the DC universe. Teams are custom crews that are created using their own rules instead of those found in the Configuring Your Crew section of the Batman Miniature Game rulebook. In addition, Teams have some unique special rules, like exclusive Strategies, Equipment or characters to hire. CONFIGURING A TEAM First, you must choose which team you wish to create. On the following pages, you will find rules for several new teams: the Suicide Squad, Bat-Family, The Society, and Team Arrow. Models from a team often don’t have a particular affiliation, or don’t seem to have affiliations that work with other members, but don’t worry! The following guidelines, combined with the list of playable characters in appropriate Recruitment Tables, will make it clear which models you may include in your custom crew. Once you have chosen your team, use the following rules to configure it: • You must select a model to be the Team’s Boss. This model doesn’t need to have the Leader or Sidekick Rank – s/he can also be a Free Agent. See your team’s Recruitment Table for the full list of characters who can be recruited as your team’s Boss. • Who is the Boss in a Team? 1. If there is a model with Boss? Always present, they MUST be the Boss, regardless of a rank.
