Lake County scored three runs in the first on RBI doubles by Connor Smith and Daniel Schneemann, and an RBI single by Cody Farhat. The Midwest League • Second Half LumberKings scored two runs in the fourth inning on an RBI double by J.D. Osborne and an RBI single by Davis Bradshaw. Clinton pulled within one run in the ninth on a two-out RBI double by Thomas Jones, but Captains reliever Manuel Alvarez got Marcos Rivera to ground out to shortstop to end the game with the tying run on second base.     www.nature.com/scientificreports OPEN Risk factor for elbow symptom manifestation in young baseball players with asymptomatic medial elbow abnormalities: a prospective cohort study Hitoshi Shitara*, Tsuyoshi Tajika, Takuro Kuboi, Tsuyoshi Ichinose, Tsuyoshi Sasaki, Noritaka Hamano, Fumitaka Endo, Masataka Kamiyama, Ryosuke Miyamoto, Kurumi Nakase, Atsushi Yamamoto, Tsutomu Kobayashi, Kenji Takagishi & Hirotaka Chikuda Asymptomatic elbow abnormalities are relatively common in young baseball players, but the factors responsible are unclear. To prospectively identify risk factors related to symptom manifestation in asymptomatic elbow abnormalities, we recruited 573 baseball players (age: 7–14 years) at a pre-participation medical/physical examination in the preseason who were right-handed and had asymptomatic medial elbow abnormalities on ultrasound (US). Baseline preseason and postseason participant characteristics were assessed. A “symptomatic” elbow was defned as an elbow with medial elbow joint problems that prevented ball throwing for ≥ 8 days. After exclusions, 82 players were enrolled, of whom 22 (26.8%) developed a symptomatic elbow. In univariate analyses, the external and internal rotation strengths of the dominant shoulder were signifcantly greater in the symptomatic group than in the asymptomatic group (P = 0.021). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the internal rotation strength of the dominant shoulder was a signifcant independent risk factor (odds ratio = 1.091, P = 0.027) for developing a symptomatic elbow. In young asymptomatic baseball players with abnormalities in the medial elbow region of the dominant arm on US, stronger preseason internal rotation strength of the dominant shoulder was a signifcant independent risk factor for the development of a “symptomatic” elbow. Young baseball players are at high risk for elbow injuries1–5.

LETTER FROM THE BOARD CHAIR AND PRESIDENT In 2016 the Greater Columbus Arts Council made substantial progress toward building 84,031 a more sustainable arts sector in Columbus. An unprecedented year for the bed tax in 2016 resulted in more support to artists and ARTIST PROFILE arts organizations than ever before. Twenty-seven Operating Support grants were awarded totaling $3.1 million and 57 grants totaling $561,842 in Project Support. VIDEO VIEWS The Art Makes Columbus/Columbus Makes Art campaign generated nearly 400 online, print and broadcast stories, $9.1 million in publicity and 350 million earned media impressions featuring the arts and artists in Columbus. We held our first annual ColumbusMakesArt.com Columbus Open Studio & Stage October 8-9, a self-guided art tour featuring 26 artist studios, seven stages and seven community partners throughout Columbus, providing more than 1,400 direct engagements with artists in their creative spaces. We hosted another outstanding Columbus Arts Festival on the downtown riverfront 142% and Columbus’ beautiful Scioto Greenways. We estimated that more than 450,000 people enjoyed fine artists from across the country, and amazing music, dance, INCREASE theater, and local cuisine at the city’s free welcome-to-summer event. The game of baseball is quickly shifting towards analytics and as teams strive to find every advantage possible, they must consider evaluating their medical departments. The research in this paper utilizes a predictive model to indicate the odds of a pitcher requiring Tommy John surgery (a common baseball injury). The model used a variety of variables ranging from basic statistics, pitch selections and velocities, and pitching mechanics to generate an equation for the likelihood a player will require surgery. The model showed that a pitcher’s pitch selection is one of the largest indicators of surgery.

    Atlanta Braves Clippings Monday, June 29, 2020 Braves.com Braves set player pool; 4 spots remain By Mark Bowman ATLANTA -- Less than three weeks after being drafted, Jared Shuster was placed in the 60-man player pool the Braves submitted to Major League Baseball on Sunday afternoon. Shuster is not expected to make his MLB debut this year. But his inclusion on this list creates the opportunity for him to spend the next couple of months working out with some of the top members of the Braves’ development staff. First and foremost, these 60-man player pools were designed for teams to designate which members of their organization will be eligible for the 60-game regular season, which is slated to begin on July 23 or 24. But with a Minor League season this year seeming unlikely, teams also chose to fill some of these spots with their top prospects. The Braves’ pool actually includes each of their top 12 prospects (per MLB Pipeline’s rankings). But only two or three of those prospects has a shot of being added to Atlanta’s active roster at some point this year. The members of this prospect group who could be used by Atlanta this year include outfielders Cristian Pache and Drew Waters, right-handers Ian Anderson, Kyle Wright, Bryse Wilson, Jasseel De La Cruz and Huascar Ynoa, and left-handers Kyle Muller and Tucker Davidson. Shuster, a left-handed pitcher taken in this year's Draft with the 25th overall pick out of Wake Forest, is part of the group of prospects added to this list just to get some experience this year.

Several were injured, and others have been getting needed development time in Triple-A. That's finally starting to change. With his "Super Two" status no longer a concern, pitching prospect Cody Reed was called up Saturday. Infielder Jose Peraza is back in the big leagues for the second time. Starting pitcher Anthony DeSclafani has put an oblique injury behind him. Pitchers Michael Lorenzen and Raisel Iglesias could be ready in the near future. "It's exciting because this is what we've all talked about," Price said. "We've anticipated it would happen a little bit sooner. We didn't anticipate the health issues, and didn't think we'd come out of Spring Training with all the issues and injuries. I did anticipate we'd get to the point where these young guys would impact our ballclub, and begin to learn how to play at this level and find their way to success." More help could be coming. Pitcher Robert Stephenson, who already made two spot starts in the big leagues, is performing well at Triple-A Louisville with a 3.29 ERA in 11 starts.
