Please can I request information for the below questions regarding the provision of certain women’s health services in your area:

1. List of all practices (including address and postcode details) that are contracted to fit/offer an Internal Uterine System/Device (coil) fitting service.

Answer: The following list details the practices contracted to fit/offer an inter- uterine system/device fitting service in Rutland.

2. How many IUS/Ds (coils) have each practice fitted/removed/reviewed/claimed for in the financial year 2018/19?

Answer: The table below details the number of IUD/S fits and post fit reviews claimed for in the financial year 2018/19 in Practices in Rutland. Rutland County Council does not have data relating to the number of removals undertaken in practices.

3. How much are contracted practices paid per IUS/IUD (coil) procedure (fit, remove, review or other) they currently contracted to pay per fit?

Answer: The 2019/20 Community Based Services contract for IUD/S and Subdermal Implant pays £81.31 per IUD/S fit and £21.69 per IUD/S post fit review. Re-procurement of the Community Based Services for IUD/S and Subdermal Implant is in process and the contract for 2020/21 will pay £80 per IUD/S fit and £20 per IUD/S removal.

4. If fitting service is available how many insertions and removals have been undertaken in the last 12 months for each practice?

Answer: Data for the number of insertions in the last 12 months is not available. Claims for quarter 3 2019/20 (October to December 2019) will not be received until January 2020. Rutland County Council does not hold the information relating to the number of removals undertaken in practices for the last 12 months.

5. Does the practice have a bespoke clinic for IUS/D (coil) fitting or are appointments for IUS/D (coil) fits made as part of the routine appointment schedule or both?

Answer: Rutland County Council does not hold this information.

6. Is there a waiting time for IUS/IUD (coil) fits at the practice and if so how long (less than 6 weeks, between 6 weeks – 6 months, or longer than 6 months?

Answer: Rutland County Council does not hold this information.

7. If a practice does not have its own fitting service, which practice/clinic/hospital do they refer the majority of their patients that require an IUS/D (coil) fit to (type, name, address and postcode) and how many do they refer?

Answer: If a practice does not have its own fitting service, then they may have arrangements for inter-practice referral or refer to a Sexual Health Service. It is likely, that the majority of patients that require an IUS/D (coil) fit would be referred to Leicester Integrated Sexual Health Service, at which a range of clinics in Leicester and Leicestershire will be offered to the patient. The main hub is based at Haymarket Health, 1st Floor, Haymarket Shopping Centre Leicester LE1 3YT. Rutland County Council doesn’t not hold information on how many referrals are made by practices.

8. Do they have someone within the practice who provides specialist contraceptive counselling and if so, what is their role (doctor, nurse, healthcare assistant, healthcare visitor or other)?

Answer: Rutland County Council does not hold this information.
