competition at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games will comprise seven men's and seven women's events, as follows: MEN WOMEN EVENT EVENT OLYMPIC BOAT CLASSES EVENT EVENT CODE NUMBER CODE NUMBER M1x 8 SINGLE SCULLS W1x 7 M2- 2 PAIR W2- 1 M2x 4 DOUBLE SCULLS W2x 3 M4- 6 FOUR W4- 5 M4x 12 QUADRUPLE SCULLS W4x 11 M8+ 14 EIGHT W8+ 13 LM2x 10 LIGHTWEIGHT DOUBLE LW2x 9 SCULLS Note: In the men's lightweight In the women's lightweight classes, no rower should weigh more than 59kg and the crew average weight should not exceed 57kg. Olympic competition is organised in several phases/rounds. The number of rounds, and the progression from the first round to the finals, depends on the number of boats entered in a particular event. All events will begin with the heats round. In events with 7-12 boats, the best boats from the heats will qualify directly to the finals A, which will determine medals and places fourth to sixth. Unsuccessful boats in the heats will compete in the repechage round, which offers a second chance to qualify for the final A. Unsuccessful boats in the repechage will compete in final B, which will determine the remaining places (except for events with seven entries which have no final B). In events with 13-24 boats, the best boats from the heats will qualify directly to the semifinals A/B. The three best boats in each of the semifinals A/B will then qualify to the finals A which will determine medals and places fourth to sixth. The remaining boats from the semifinals A/B will compete in the finals B to determine places 7-12. Boats that do not qualify directly to the semifinals A/B will compete in the repechage round, which offers a second chance to qualify to the semifinals A/B. Unsuccessful boats from the repechages will continue competition in the semifinals C/D, from where they will qualify to the finals C or D that will determine places 13-18 (C) and 19-24 (D). In events with 13- 18 boats, there will only be semifinals A/B, and the last ranked boats after the repechage will advance directly to final C. In events with 25 or more boats, the best boats in each heat proceed to compete in the quarterfinals round from where the best three boats in each quarterfinal qualify to the semifinals A/B, from where the best three crews proceed to final A to compete for medal positions and places 4-6 and the remaining boats go to final B which determines places 7-12. The remaining boats from the quarterfinals will proceed to semifinals C/D and then to finals C and D, where they will compete for places 13-24. Unsuccessful boats in the heats will compete in the repechages which offer a second chance to qualify to the quarterfinals round. Unsuccessful crews from the repechages will advance directly to final E ROW ------------------------------_02A Report Created THU 1 JUL 2021 09:30 Page 1 of 3 Sea Forest Waterway Rowing 海の森水上競技場 ボート / Aviron Canal de la forêt de la Mer Yumenoshima Park Archery Field (when the number of boats is between 25 and 30) or to semifinals E and F (when the number of boats exceeds 30) and from there to final E or F to determine the remaining places.
