  • Crowd Swoons for Neil Diamond Tribute
PRESS RELEASE – February 16, 2017 CROWD SWOONS FOR NEIL DIAMOND TRIBUTE There was another sellout crowd at the Historic Hemet Theatre on Saturday night. This time they were there to hear Dean Colley and Hot August Night perform a dazzling tribute to Neil Diamond. Dean Colley's look-alike and sound-alike performance has earned him rave reviews across the county -- and the Hemet audience definitely agreed with that assessment, cheering and singing to each classic hit from the extensive career of the man nicknamed the "Jewish Elvis." The auditorium was filled with sweethearts celebrating an early Valentine's Day, filling the dance floor in each other's arms. At intermission, over $400 was raised for the Building Fund with a raffle drawing featuring a basket of wine and glasses from Golden Era Productions, a gift certificate and Ramona Bowl memorabilia from the Ramona Foundation, champagne and flutes from Joann Morello, and chocolates and a Disney raffle ticket from the Assistance League of Hemacinto. The concert was the second in the 2017 "Tribute Mania" concert series that is helping bring the Historic Hemet Theatre back to life. After three years in operation, the Foundation is making a profit and raising funds to completing the purchase of the building. Meanwhile, tickets for the next concert, a tribute to The Eagles featuring Desperado on Saturday March 4th are already half gone. This will be the third time this band has appeared at HHT -- selling out the house each time. Other upcoming concerts include: Tribute to Creedence Clearwater Revival, featuring Fortunate Son on Saturday March 18th; Tribute to The Beatles with Britain's Finest on Saturday April 8th; Tribute to The Rolling Stones featuring The Ultimate Stones on Saturday April 29th; and Tribute to The Doobie Brothers by Doobie, Inc.

  • Super Diamond BIO and Press
SUPER DIAMOND The Neil Diamond Experience "I've met them and I have been to their shows, they're wonderful!" Neil Diamond to Katie Couric on the Today Show, November 9, 2005 "Q. Super Diamond honors him..." "A. Who is Neil Diamond?" Question on Jeopardy, May 20th, 2005 San Francisco's Super Diamond has become one of the most popular live shows at major nightclubs, theaters, ballrooms and public events throughout the United States. For over a decade the band has consistently performed sell-out shows at venues such as Irving Plaza in New York, 930 Club in Washington D.C., Bimbo's in San Francisco, and House of Blues venues in Chicago, Los Angeles, San Diego, Cleveland and Dallas to name but a few. At these venues Super Diamond has generated an exuberant audience response previously unheard of for a tribute band. Many would say that Super Diamond has transcended the label of "tribute band" by passionately immersing themselves in Neil Diamond's huge repertoire and delivering a high-octane show of unforgettable classics such as Cracklin’ Rosie, Sweet Caroline, Forever in Blue Jeans and many others. Super Diamond has also performed at landmark venues and events such as Hollywood Bowl, Taste of Chicago, Fenway Park in Boston, Coors Field in Denver and numerous fairs, festivals and corporate celebrations across the country and overseas. Super Diamond front man The Surreal Neil, Randy Cordeiro, astonishes audiences with his live interpretation of the "real Neil." Randy created the charismatic character when he discovered he had the uncanny ability to capture not only Neil Diamond's voice, but also his mannerisms and performance style.

This is the ultimate Neil Diamond record. Not necessarily the best -- he's at his most appealing crafting in the studio -- but certainly the ultimate, capturing all the kitsch and glitz of Neil Diamond, the showman. And that also means that it's not just loaded with flair, but with filler, songs like "Porcupine Pie," "Soggy Pretzels," and "And the Grass Won't Pay No Mind" -- attempts to write grand, sweeping epics that collapse under their own weight. Still, that's part of the charm of Diamond and while it can sound unbearable on studio albums, it makes some sense here, surrounded by his pomp and circumstance. That spectacle is the great thing about the record, since it inflates not just his great songs, it gives the weaker moments character.
