2 Western Albemarle Warriors 2013 Boys Varsity Season Review

The 2013 Western Warriors Boy's Lacrosse team entered a new era with the arrival of Head Coach Alex Whitten. While the Warriors started out a bit slow, their progression over the course of the season was remarkable. With a small yet highly valued senior class, the team made great strides each week to learn the new systems and methodologies put in place by Coach Whitten. After the first several weeks of the season, the team's improvement was evident. Every player who touched the field gained valuable game time and experience.

Once the Warriors hit their stride they advanced to the post season with abandon. As the fourth seed in the Jefferson District tournament, the Warriors had to beat rivals Albemarle in the semi-finals and Monticello in the Championship game. The Warrior's District Championship was their first since 2010. Following their District Championship, the Warriors made it all the way to the Regional Semi-Final losing to EC Glass.

While some say that finishing the season 7-11 would be a disappointment, the strides taken by the young 2013 Western Warriors tells a different story. Improving the entire season as individuals, as a team, and as an overall program has established a solid foundation for growth at WAHS. Look for the 2014 Warriors to pick up right where they left off last season - competing at a high level and continually working their hardest to become awesome players and great young men. 3 Proud To Support Western Albemarle Lacrosse Go Warriors!
