This is little changed from February 3rd when Americans approved 49 – 36 percent, with 16 percent not offering an opinion. There are sharp partisan divides with Democrats approving 91 – 2 percent and independents approving 50 – 34 percent, while Republicans disapprove 82 – 11 percent. When only considering registered voters, Biden’s job approval is 52 – 38 percent. It is nearly the inverse of former President Trump’s negative 38 – 55 percent job approval rating at roughly the same period during his presidency in a February 22, 2017 poll. “One month in, these are solid, but not particularly dazzling approval numbers for the new president. There may be some solace in the knowledge that his predecessor spent four years in office without getting very close to 50 percent,” said Quinnipiac University Polling Analyst Tim Malloy. Americans approve 58 – 32 percent of the way Biden is handling the response to the coronavirus. On his handling of the economy, they approve 48 – 39 percent. When it comes to the Biden administration’s handling of the reopening of schools, the public is mixed with 42 percent approving, 38 percent disapproving, and 20 percent not offering an opinion.

This includes: • $140,000 Given By The American Crystal Sugar Company PAC To Members Of The Caucus. • $120,000 Given By Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s Majority Committee PAC To Members Of The Caucus • $41,000 Given By The Space Exploration Technologies Corp. PAC – the PAC affiliated with Elon Musk’s SpaceX company. Also among the top PACs are Lockheed Martin, General Dynamics, and the National Association of Realtors. Duke Energy and Boeing are also on this list despite these entity’s public declarations in January aimed at their customers and shareholders that were pausing all donations for a period of time, including those to members that voted against certifying the election. These incentives will play a critical role in America’s economic recovery, alleviate some of the pollution impacts that have been borne by disadvantaged communities, and help the country build back better and cleaner. The clean energy sector was projected to add 175,000 jobs in 2020 but the COVID-19 pandemic upended the industry and roughly 300,000 clean energy workers were still out of work in the beginning of 2021.1 Clean energy, energy efficiency, and clean transportation tax incentives are an important part of bringing these workers back. It is critical that these policies support strong labor standards and domestic manufacturing. The importance of clean energy tax policy is made even more apparent and urgent with record- high temperatures in the Pacific Northwest, unprecedented drought across the West, and the impacts of tropical storms felt up and down the East Coast. We ask that the infrastructure package prioritize inclusion of a stable, predictable, and long-term tax platform that: Provides long-term extensions and expansions to the Production Tax Credit and Investment Tax Credit to meet President Biden’s goal of a carbon pollution-free power sector by 2035; Extends and modernizes tax incentives for commercial and residential energy efficiency improvements and residential electrification; Extends and modifies incentives for clean transportation options and alternative fuel infrastructure; and Supports domestic clean energy, energy efficiency, and clean transportation manufacturing.

The positive impact of increasing vaccination rates and decreasing cases of COVID-19 are clear to see. Businesses are open, sporting venues and cultural institutions have welcomed back fans and visitors, and restrictions have been lifted. On June 11, Washington D.C. fully reopened and lifted the restrictions put in place to stop the spread of COVID-19. Unfortunately, the United States Capitol and the People’s House have failed to do the same. The Capitol remains closed to the American people and the House continues to maintain policies that run contrary to science of COVID-19. It is time for you to reopen the House and get back to serving the American people. Weekly case numbers in the United States have reached their lowest point since March of 2020 at the very start of the pandemic, and every day hundreds of thousands of Americans are being vaccinated. This also holds true for the Washington D.C. metropolitan area and the Capitol Hill community specifically. Over the last two weeks cases are down 36% in Washington D.C. and over 40% in both Virginia and Maryland. On Capitol Hill, no congressional staffer is known to have tested positive in weeks and no Member of Congress is known to have tested positive in months. This can no doubt be attributed to the institution’s steady access to vaccinations.

Washington, DC 20500 Dear Mr. President: We write to request urgent changes to the National Interest Exception (NIE) travel waiver program that would remove obstacles currently impeding Georgia’s post-pandemic economic recovery. Specifically, we urge you to reinstate the NIE waiver process at U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and ensure that waiver requests are handled in a timely and consistent manner. Employers and workers are battling severe delays and red tape in their efforts to obtain approval for travelers to gain entry into the United States to work on major and economically vital projects in Georgia, such as television, film, entertainment, and fashion productions. In March, CBP stopped adjudicating requests for NIEs, the waiver that business travelers from certain countries must obtain before entering the United States during the COVID-19 pandemic. Such requests are now submitted to and adjudicated by U.S. Department of State consulates and embassies abroad. However, reduced staffing and operations at these State Department facilities have resulted in unacceptably long processing delays and appointment cancellations. Individual embassies also handle NIE requests differently, resulting in inconsistent and unpredictable outcomes. These waivers are critical to Georgia’s economic recovery, but the current slow and uncertain process is impeding production companies’ ability to plan ahead and resume normal operations. Georgia is one of the top filming locations worldwide. In 2019, before COVID-19, television and film production in Georgia injected $2.9 billion in direct production spending into the U.S.
