It was first released on iOS in May 2016 and then released on Android in December 2016, debuting as a major update to the already-created Google Keyboard app on Android. Gboard has Google Search, including web results (removed from April 2020) and predictive responses, easy search and exchange GIF and emoji content, a predictive type of engine offering the following word depending on the context, and multilingual language support. The keyboard updates have provided additional functionality, including GIFs, for a dark-colored theme or adding a personal image as a keyboard background, supporting voice dictation, predicting the next phrase, and hand-drawn emoji recognition. At the time of launching on iOS, the keyboard only offered support for English, with more languages gradually being added in the following months, while on Android, the keyboard supports more than 100 languages at the time of release. In August 2018, Gboard passed 1 billion installations in the Google Play Store, making it one of the most popular android applications. It has Google search, including web results (removed for the Android version of the app) and predictive responses, easy search and sharing GIF and emoji content, and predictive engine input offering the following word depending on the context. At the launch in May 2016, IOS Gboard only supported English, while at the time of launch on Android it supported more than 100 languages. Google says Gboard will add more languages over the coming months. As of October 2019, 916 languages are supported. Gboard has a floating keyboard and Google Translate in Gboard itself. Gboard supports the one-handed mode on Android after its May 2016 update. This functionality was added to the app when it was branded as Google Keyboard. The update to the iOS app, released in August 2016, added French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish, and offered smart GIFs where the keyboard would offer text-related GIFs. The keyboard also offers new options for a dark theme or the addition of a personal image from the camera roll as a keyboard background. Another new update in March 2018 added Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, Greek, Polish, Romanian, Baloch, Swedish, Catalan, Hungarian, Malay, Russian, Latin American Spanish and Turkish, as well as voice dictation support, allowing users to press the microphone button on the space bar and speak for a long time. In April 2017, Google significantly increased the number of Indian languages supported by Gboard, adding 11 new languages, bringing the total number of supported Indian languages to 22. In June 2017, the Android app was updated to support the recognition of hand-drawn emojis and the ability to predict whole phrases rather than individual words. The functionality is expected to come to the iOS app later. In March 2019, voice recognition was added offline. On February 12, 2020, a new Emoji Kitchen feature was introduced that allowed users to stretch different emojis and use them as messaging stickers. Admission in 2016, The Wall Street praised praised keyboard, in particular the integrated Google search feature. However, it has been noted that the app does not currently support integration with other apps on the device, meaning that requests such as Buy Tickets to Movie Captain America sends users to the web browser rather than the movie ticket app installed on their phone. The Wall Street Journal also praised the predictive type of engine, saying that it blows past most competitors and it becomes smarter with use. They also found that Gboard cleverly offers emojis as you type words. It was noted that there was no one-handed mode (a feature added in May 2016 for Android), and no options for changing the color or size of the keys, writing that if you want to customize the keyboard, Gboard is not for you. Smart Reply Feature ` 01-Feb-2018

SMART REPLY FEATURE ` 01-FEB-2018 Google announced that it is now rolling out the Smart Reply feature to messaging app Android Messages. The AI-based Smart Reply feature was launched with GooglePHISHING Allo back in September 2016. It will be available only for Project Fi users currently, with no timeline on a wider rollout. Google will require access to your SMS history to help it generate intelligent responses. The announcement was made through a tweet on Project Fi's official Twitter account. Smart Reply, launched with Google Allo, automatically suggests responses to messages that you have received. It provides contextual replies by analysing the recent message in the thread.PHISHING It can be turned off by going into Settings in Android Messages, under Smart Reply. The feature currently works with Google Allo, Gmail, Google Assistant, and, now, Android Messages - but the last as we mentioned is only for Project Fi users. Notably, this addition of Smart Reply to Android Messages comes a week after a teardown of Google's Gboard beta APK revealed that the Smart Reply intelligent suggestions are coming to the Gboard app on Android. The keyboard is expected to offer phrase-length suggestions in the topmost row. Thanks to the upcoming integration, the feature will work on wide variety of apps, negating the need for third-party app developers to bring Smart Reply support or similar features on their offerings. Apart from first party apps like Allo, Android Messages, and Hangouts, the feature was also spotted working on Facebook, Messenger Lite, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, and Tencent's platforms.

Android GBoard Morse Code Control with Circuit Playground Express Created by Dave Astels Last updated on 2020-01-07 11:59:07 PM UTC Overview GBoard is an alternate keyboard for Android Devices (https://adafru.it/BVG) that lets you type using Morse code. This has seen use for people with limited mobility, but it can also be useful for practicing your morse code skills. The goal of this project is to build a simple input device for GBoard that doesn't require soldering or elaborate construction techniques. We'll be using a Circuit Playground Express to build this project. We have a few different versions we'll be demonstrating - from the simplest using the two onboard buttons, to using capacitive touch inputs, to connecting up some alligator clips to big-and-easy-to-press arcade buttons. Using alligator clip pads lets us avoid avoid soldering altogether and makes this a quick, easy project to build by anyone! If you're not familiar with the Circuit Playground Express and all it has to offer, see our introductory guide (https://adafru.it/adafruit-cpx). This guide will be using CircuitPython.
