The study was initiated by the Soil Conservation Service in 1975, and is scheduled for completion in 1977. SCS carries out flood hazard analyses and other related flood plain studies under a Joint Coordination Agreement with the State agency re- sponsible for flood plain management activities. In Nevada, this agency is the Nevada Division of Water Resources. The objective of the study was to provide technicai information for use in the developmer,t of lociil flood plain management regulations within the flood plain areas affectel=- by Las Vegas Wash and its principal tributaries. An important component of the study is the development 3f a compre- hensive flood history for the study area which 3efines areas where floods have occurred, an approximation of magnitude, alid other data relating to dates, times, and durations. During development of this data fc Las Vegas Wash, it was determined that the research s3xld 3e expanded to all of Clark County because the historical flood patterca hve relemnce to all the county commnities as well as ks Vegas 72.- -ey.
