With about 60 parents and students present, the planting of the new September gardens was done in just over an hour and a half. 3-7 Winter Tournament Week The Quad looks great with new pavers, seating and 6 Parents Association Meeting now plants in all of the gardens. Thank you very much (7pm-9pm, Staffroom) to Sara Haddon, Warren Duncan and the Parents’ 11 Whanau BBQ Association for funding the plants and organising the (6:30pm-8:30pm, Staffroom) volunteers. 19 Board of Trustees Meeting It is wonderful to be part of such a supportive and committed community. Venue Boys Div 1 play Home and Away where possible Girls Div 1 play at Tamaki Rec Boys Div 2 play at Macleans College Girls Blue play Home and Away where possible Girls Green play at Saint Kentigern College Format All teams will play 2 games each night. Games are best of 3 sets (25, 25, 15). All games are roll on and roll off. Game times are a guideline and the first round begins at 4.00pm. Duties have been allocated for all teams. Boys Div 1 is a pool of eight teams playing a five-week round robin competition with two games each week. Teams will be seeded according to finishing positions of the completed round robin for the Junior Auckland Championships. Play offs on the 23 November. To parents of new year 9 students, I hope that the first April term at Glendowie College has gone well for you and 14 USA Dance Trip departs your child(ren). I hear many positives about our year 25 Anzac Day 9 students from teachers and parents, and hope that Vietnam Trip returns your child has settled in well. 26 USA Dance Trip returns Last Saturday we ran our inaugural GDC Alumni Sports Day. My thanks to Caroline MacKenzie, Alumni Advancement Officer, and all other people who 30 Term 2 starts helped organise this event. It was great to see former students, recent and not so recent, join us. Teams played against our current school teams in May football, touch, basketball and netball, competing for the ‘Jeanette Bell Cup’. 3 Parents’ Association Meeting Congratulations to the Alumni who won this year’s competition. (7pm-9pm, Staffroom) Thank you to parents who have paid all or part of the school donation. As at 5-6 Duke of Edinburgh Bronze 31st March, we are progressing steadily towards our 2018 budget. These Journey donations make a significant difference to the education – curricular and co- 12-14 Duke of Edinburgh Silver curricular that we provide to students. Journey Weather permitting, the redevelopment of the Quad starts this weekend. 16 Board of Trustees Meeting Contractors arrive tomorrow to fence off the Quad and will do the initial (6pm-9pm, Boardroom) (noisy) demolition work over the holidays.
