The Marshfield Board of Aldermen met Thursday, Aug. 26 with a few new details on what’s going on at the city. Following rampant misuse of the site, the board previously voted to close the leaf dump at Ellis O. Jackson park. New Marshfield signage marking the closure went up the following week. “We’ve had to pull guys from other Remembers jobs to help remove trash that was never meant to be dumped there in the first place,” said City Administrator Sam Rost. The field will be open for public viewing from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. that Saturday. “The partnership with schools for this event gives our city a chance to pay tribute to a major event in our lives but to also educate our youth in the community as to why it’s so important.” Contributed photos Marshfield’s first-ever K9 Courage Pictured above are the school supplies which were pro- Dog Swim will take place at the event vided for students at Marshfield Junior High School for from 12-3 p.m. All participating dogs the 2021-2022 academic year. Marshfield knocked off Sullivan and the hosts at the Lebanon Kickoff Tourna- ment, with the only weekend loss coming at the hands of Logan-Rogersville. The Jays opened Friday by posting a shutout in a 2-0 vic- tory over Sullivan. “It took us a little while to get going, but once we did, we controlled the run of play for the first half; most of the opportunities were ours,” Blue Jays head coach Tom Searson said.
