Tommy Parker Named 2013 “Mr. ” Recipient

Bobby Reasonover Nashville Baseball Hall of Fame Inductee

NASHVILLE, TN – January 9, 2013 – Old Timers president Jim Forkum announces that Tommy Parker has been named 2013 “Mr. Baseball” honoree, and former major league scout Bobby Reasonover has been elected to the organization’s prestigious Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame.

Parker and Reasonover will be honored at the Old Timers 75th annual banquet to be held on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at the Millennium Maxwell House, 2025 Rosa L. Parks Blvd. Former major leaguer will be the featured speaker. Franklin American Mortgage Company is the 2013 banquet sponsor.

Parker is a graduate of John Overton High School and the Univ. of Tennessee and has a Masters in Financial Services from American College in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. Having coached in the Grandberry, Green Hills, Creve Hall, Music City and GNABA leagues, he was successful in winning over 1,000 games.

Tommy’s teams won 19 state championships, three regional championships, two championships and finished runner-up on two occasions as his teams participated in a total of 11 World Series. Over 40 of his players went on to play college baseball. Two of his sons also played in the college ranks, Thomas at Belmont and Chris at Lipscomb.

Bobby Reasonover, who passed away in 2008, played baseball and basketball at North High School between 1948-1950, and was a three- sport letterman at West High School his senior year. Upon graduation Reasonover enlisted in the U. S. Navy and played for the Treasure Island Pirates 12th Naval District championship team. He was a veteran of the Korean War.

Bobby played in the Dodgers organization from 1955-1958. His amateur career included playing for the Gallatin Blues, Falstaff, Radnor Plumbers, and Ray Batts teams, and coaching in Little League, Babe Ruth, and Connie Mack Leagues. His 1964 Little League team captured the state championship.

An assistant baseball at Vanderbilt in 1969-1970, Bobby was a well-known area scout from 1971 until 2006, working for the California Angels, Philadelphia Phillies, Texas Rangers, and Arizona Diamondbacks organizations.

Tickets for the banquet are $50 each and may be purchased at after Hit, Nashville Sounds, or from any Old Timers board member. The doors open at 5:30 and the banquet begins at 6:30 PM.
