Scientology: CRIMINAL TIME TRACK ISSUE I by Mike Mcclaughry 1999
Scientology: CRIMINAL TIME TRACK ISSUE I by Mike McClaughry 1999 The following is a Time Track that I put together for myself and some friends at the time, in 1999. I originally used the pseudonym “Theta” at the request of Greg Barnes until he was ready to “go public” with his defection from Scientology. I also used the pseudonym “Theta 8-8008” around this same time period. Bernd Luebeck, Ex-Guardian’s Office Intelligence and then Ron’s Org staff ran the website www.freezone.org. In 1999, just after my time track was released privately, Bernd used it on his website as-is. He later expanded on my original time track with items of interest to himself. Prior to my doing this time track, Bernd, (nor anyone else involved with Scientology on the internet), had ever thought of the idea to do things this way in relation to Scientology. Mike McClaughry BEGIN An open letter to all Scientologists: Greetings and by way of introduction, I am a Class 8, OT 8, who has been in the Church for many decades and I am in good standing with the Church. I am a lover of LRH’s technology and that is my motivation in writing you and in doing what I am now doing. It came to my attention, sometime in the not too distant past, that the current top management of the Church, particularly David Miscavige, is off source. One of the ways he is off-source is that he has made the same mistake as the old Guardian’s Office staff made, engaging in criminal activities to solve problems. -

Church of Scientology and 128 Members V Sweden (Adm
CHURCH OF SCIENTOLOGY AND 128 MEMBERS V SWEDEN (ADM. DEC. ON APPL. NR . 8282/78) SYNOPSIS OF DECISION This case derived from a verbal attack on the Church of Scientology by a university lecturer, which was reported in a newspaper. The Church submitted a penal complaint about this attack to the Chancellor ofJustice, claiming that it constituted "agitation against a minority group", but the Chancellor decided not to instigate criminal proceedings. The Church then brought a civil action for damages against the lecturer, on the basis of the alleged breaches of the criminal law. This action was dismissed on technical legal grounds. Before the European Commission of Human Rights ("the Commission"), the Church claimed that the absence of effective criminal and civil legal redress violated, in particular, the right to freedom of religion, and constituted discrimination; and that Swedish law did not accord them an effective remedy against these violations of the Convention. The Commission, in its decision on the admissibility of the case, first recalled that, in its earlier decision of X and Scientology v Sweden, it "recognised the competence of a church [in casu, the Church of Scientology] to lodge an application in its own capacity". It went on, however, to find that it is not an element of the concept of freedom of religion, as set forth in Art. 9 of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR), that religious bodies or their individual members should be able to bring proceedings of the kind sought by the Applicant. While the Commission held that particular creeds or confessions do not have a right to be free from criticism, they nonetheless expressly did "not exclude the possibility of criticism or 'agitation' against a church or religious group reaching such a level that it might endanger freedom of religion and where a tolerance of such behaviour by the authorities could engage State responsibility." However, such a level had not been reached in the case at hand. -

Surviving with Spirituality: An Analysis of Scientology in a Neoliberal World Abstract The neoliberal system has expanded fertile ground for markets to produce and distribute spiritual commodities. This paper examines how the Church of Scientology profits by selling spiritual goods to the modern neoliberal consumer. To accumulate data, I conducted interviews and participated in various rituals at the Church of Scientology in St. Paul, Minnesota. I outline and examine the data in four sections: the initiation process of the latent member, their consumption patterns in the Church, social interactions between members, and how these interactions bridge the Church into the public arena. I conclude that the Church is a market institution that promotes neoliberal ideology. Introduction “God is dead!” Friedrich Nietzsche declared in a narrative about a madman preaching in an 18 th century marketplace (1954: 95). -
Brainwashing in Scientology's Rehabilitation Project Force (RPF)

In recent years various media reports have also highlited one aspect of the Organisation, the ”Rehabi- litation Project Force” – or RPF. Particularly the reports of former members who have endured the RPF in the US, the UK and in Denmark have made it possible for the author of this brochure, Prof. Ste- phen A. Kent, to describe what I consider to be inhuman practices within the RPF. If the term ”brainwashing”, so often associated with the Scientology Organisation by the public, applies at all, then it certainly applies to the RPF, as this brochure shows. The RPF is part of the ”Sea Organisation” (als known as ”Sea-Org”) of the Scientology Organisation. Sea-Org was created in 1967 and according to L. Ron Hubbard, the founder of the Scientology Organisation, it is the ”sole guarantee of the survival of Scientology technology on this planet”. Members of Sea-Org use pseudo-naval ranks and uniforms, an the unit is fully organised along military lines. Sea-Org states that its aim is to ”maintain Scientology as a functioning organisation” and that the members, according to its own publicity, have ”signed a contract of eternal service to Scientolo- gy and its aims”. -

ABSTRACT The Great American Disappointment: An Introduction to the Great Disappointment Theory as a Way to Explain the Unique Evolutionary Processes of Socially-Guided Religion by Means of American Civil Religion Ethan Gjerset Quillen, M.A. Mentor: Douglas R. Ferdon, Ph.D. America is unique when compared to the rest of the world for many reasons, but especially so for its religion. To this, as human beings evolve socially, in the same way animal species evolve in order to seek out variable fitness toward survival, their religion follows suit. This has been particularly so in the United States where absolute religious freedom makes way for one of three processes of evolution within the American Church of Civil Religion. These three processes, Atheism, Fundamentalism and New Religious Movements, become the direction in which Americans evolve their religious beliefs in the wake of socially- guided religious disappointment. This Great Dis appointment Theory, based on the results of William Miller‟s Great Disappointment in the 19 th century, helps explain the means by which Americans, who act as individuals within an immigrant nation, are able to come together as a congregation within the American Church of Civil Religion.
