HELPMANN AWARDS MEDIA RELEASE WEDNESDAY 10 TH JULY 2013 PRESENTERS AND PERFORMANCES ANNOUNCED FOR 2013 HELPMANN AWARDS The 13 th Annual Helpmann Awards ceremony will feature some of Australia’s most talented and celebrated performers. This year joining co-hosts Eddie Perfect and Christie Whelan Browne on stage as presenters will be Bert Newton, Tina Arena, Erika Heynatz, Patrick Brammall, Chloe Dallimore, Rob Mills, Ashley Zuckerman, Miranda Tapsell, John Waters and Sharon Millerchip. These presenters and more will be announcing the winners of the 43 awards recognising distinguished artistic achievement and excellence across the major disciplines of Australia's live performance industry. In addition to the star studded list of presenters, the ceremony will include a line-up of incredible performances showcasing Australia’s unique and diverse live performance industry. Tim Minchin fresh from his role in Jesus Christ Superstar and his huge success with Matilda on Broadway will be making a very special appearance on the night. The show will also feature a full company performance of HOT SHOE SHUFFLE starring David Atkins , Jaz Flowers , Bobby Fox and the Tap Brothers as well as stunning performances by talented singer Emma Birdsall and the Sydney Dance Company . Accessibility programs for over 1200 Share the Music participants. The launch of the Mary Vallentine Limitless Stage Fund with over $190,000 pledged in support. The launch of the In Conversation series supported by Amplify donors. A strong community of 6000 donors. and so much more... Thank You This is my first opportunity as CEO to acknowledge and thank you for your generous support that has enabled Melbourne Recital Centre to present extraordinary and memorable performances in 2015-16. You have helped the Centre present over 306 concerts, music education and access events experienced by 71,161 people from all walks of life. Highlights have included Helpmann Award-winning concerts, a lively commissioning program, significant growth in the Centre’s access initiatives and an exciting legacy gift in honour of departing CEO Mary Vallentine AO, all made possible by you. The Centre’s ambience, sublime spaces and engaged audiences draw inspired performances virtually every night of the year. Internationally-renowned musicians comment on how much they enjoy performing for us. Pierre-Laurent Aimard’s magisterial performance of Messiaen’s Vingt regards sur l’enfant-Jésus was honoured with a Helpmann Award, and baritone Florian Boesch with pianist Malcolm Martineau’s thrilling readings of the three great Schubert song cycles were nominated. Contemporary music presentations grew significantly in number and scale, led by the September premiere of the Centre’s new commission A State of Grace: The Music of Tim and Jeff Buckley. -

However, what should have been a survey in light vein has been taken seriously by the Maltese, so much so that the Maltese flag has polled the highest ever number of votes ever received by a flag on this page, even exceeding that of Costa Rica. A short time ago the Maltese flag even managed to win the latest competition, against the Nepalese flag, with 54% of the votes going to Malta against 46% for Nepal. MALTA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT concert to mark airport reopening As the sun goes down on the past few quiet months, we’re turning up the volume with Sounds Like Malta to celebrate Malta Airport’s re-opening ON Wednesday We can’t wait to welcome you back to Malta, so we’re kicking off the celebrations right now. Malta International Airport, Sound Salon, G7 events, Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, Visit Malta, LEX together with Malta International Airport ambassadors Joe Roscoe and Nicola Said - Soprano. A number of planes sit idle in Luqa, dying to get back into the air. Since March,the place has been a NOISELESS cemetery. Malta International Airport will come back to life on Wednesday 1 July after the unprecedented circumstances in which we all found ourselves during the last few weeks, which also meant that the airport was forced to close its doors.The music will feature a number of videos that are a testament to the beauty of the Maltese archipelago. -
