Mar 14, Holden Attradies rated it liked it Shelves: fiction , sequential-art , super-heroes. At times I love the interconnected Marvel Universe and how stories and characters jump between titles. At other times I hate it. I think that mostly I hate it when I'm not familiar with what characters were doing in titles I haven't read, especially when I don't even know what titles those were. This was one of those times. I have a big feeling that once I go back and re-read Thunderbolts, in order, and make sure I fill in any missing volumes I'll enjoy this one quite a bit. I had mixed feelings At times I love the interconnected Marvel Universe and how stories and characters jump between titles. I had mixed feelings over how the comic was following three different stories, even if they were interconnected. It was nice though, that at the end, it felt like the three stories were for the most part wrapped up in a manner that the story could continue and start fresh. And lastly, I have to admit I tear up a little at the end during Songbird and Gunna's reunion. Seeing these two kick ass female characters who recently have been portrait as very emotionless during the recent history of the series open up and show emotion that leaves them open and exposed in some manners was very humanizing. Feb 09, Shannon Appelcline rated it really liked it Shelves: comics-marvel , comics. This volume is a pretty straight continuation of the previous story. The best part of the volume is the closure of the story for this version of the Thunderbolts. Jan 03, Stewart Tame rated it liked it. Fun stuff! I'm not familiar with this series, so not aware of previous continuity, but I was still swept up in the story and enjoyed it quite a bit. I really like Troll! She's fun. I especially liked the Judge Dredd parody towards the middle of the book. Despite being part of an ongoing series, this volume stands on its own quite admirably well. While it does start in the midst of an ongoin Fun stuff! While it does start in the midst of an ongoing story, there's enough exposition to fill the new readers in without being obnoxious about it. The volume ends at a logical place as well. Good stuff! Oct 19, Jacob rated it it was ok. Public library copy. Having listened to the creators on various podcasts over the years I was pleased to have read their Dark Avengers work by Jeff Parker and Declan Shelvey. My only exposure to Thunderbolts AKA Dark Avengers were the stories by Warren Ellis and Brian Bendis and I thought the beginning of this work was excellent, unfortunately the plot and characters got too convoluted for my taste and by the time the story wrapped up I didn't think the work was as strong and my interest waned. Dec 29, Mitchell rated it it was ok Shelves: fiction , graphic-novel , library , superhero , time-travel , series , published , two-star. Incoherent and draggy. Too much going on and none of interesting. The art was fine and the characters had potential but the story just didn't work. Too much time travel, too many teams, too many secrets. And no real relationships. Dec 29, Rigoberto rated it really liked it Shelves: favorites. This book was worth the buy. However, it did not give me the same vibe as the original Dark Avengers, but this story was still decent despite that. I actually enjoyed the new members. I hope to see more of this team, as well as have the Thunderbolts make a comeback someday. Dec 25, Todd rated it it was amazing Shelves: marvel , marvel-unlimited , night-reads , read-in This is a great addition to the Thunderbolts legacy. The 'bolts were always a ragtag bunch of criminals doing the right thing. We finally get that from this team. I'm a bit irritated that there is only one volume left. This finally seems to be going somewhere. May 13, Frans Kempe rated it really liked it Shelves: comics-thunderbolts. The Thunderbolts are in their absence replaced by Osborns Dark Avengers and their actions leads almost to the destruction of the world. Meanwhile the Thunderbolts finds Doom and are brought to the future. Good ending of the Thunderbolts team and good story. Mar 22, Mike rated it did not like it. Oct 19, Albert rated it liked it Shelves: comics. Unfortunately the art is not as strong as previous arcs Declan Shavley and Kev Walker but still a solid Marvel team book! Oct 04, Michael Storts rated it liked it Shelves: graphic-novels. The story was decent. Some of the plot line I felt was left to the reader to connect. Good to see Luke Cage as a multi generational hero. A major critique of the genre is that it simply represents an adolescent male power fantasy; and presents a world view that valorises masculinist individualism.

  • {PDF EPUB} Thunderbolts Justice Like Lightning... by Kurt Busiek Thunderbolts #1 Was the Greatest Trick Marvel Comics Ever Pulled
Read Ebook {PDF EPUB} Thunderbolts Justice Like Lightning... by Kurt Busiek Thunderbolts #1 was the greatest trick Marvel Comics ever pulled. On March 10 Marvel launched a new mutant team in its long-awaited Children of the Atom #1 (which was delayed a year by COVID-19). But not all is as it seems (or was advertised) with the Children of the Atom, with the issue ending in a twist reveal about the heroes' identities. This isn't the first time Marvel has managed to hold on to a secret about a new 'superhero' team. Almost 25 years ago (in 1997 to be exact – mark your calendars to celebrate next year), Marvel capitalized on the absence of teams such as the Avengers and Fantastic Four who were then trapped in the Heroes Reborn dimension by building up a high-profile new team of superheroes called the Thunderbolts. (Incidentally, this year marks the 25th anniversary of Heroes Reborn, which Marvel is celebrating by reviving the title's branding for a new summer event). Created by writer Kurt Busiek and artist Mark Bagley, the Thunderbolts were led by Citizen V, an updated version of a Golden Age Marvel hero, and promised to deliver "Justice Like Lightning" (according to their tagline), to Avengers-level villains and threats. Marvel built the new team up as a group on par with Earth's Mightiest Heroes, ready to step up and save the world in the Avengers' absence. But Thunderbolts #1 ended with its own massive twist reveal about the true nature of the heroes of the Thunderbolts (spoiler alert: they were not new characters at all, but ones readers already knew – we'll get into it).
