Cub Scout Leader Pow Wow 2006 “On the Beach”

WHAT IS POW WOW? Pow Wow is THE annual Cub Scout training event of the year. An entire year’s worth of fun, ideas and inspiration all in one day. Pow Wow is a great opportunity to meet with other Scouters, share ideas and have Cub Scout FUN. There will be classes in Games, Crafts, Pack Administration, Cooking, Boy Relationships and much more! It will be a full day of fun to remember!

WHO SHOULD ATTEND? Pow Wow is for all adults, (Den Leaders, Tiger Cub Partners, Cubmasters, Webelos Leaders and even parents) interested in the Cub Scout Program. There will also be an all day den chief training for Boy Scouts.

WHEN IS IT? Saturday, January 21, 2006 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

WHERE IS IT? Pow Wow will take place at St. Patrick – St. Vincent High School located at 1500 Benicia Road in Vallejo.

St. Patrick – St. Vincent High School is only 13 miles from the Council office. Take the I-680 N towards Sacramento. Cross the Benicia Bridge ($3 toll) and merge onto I-780 W Ramp towards Benicia/Vallejo. Take the Columbus Parkway exit & drive straight through the 1st signal. Take the next left turn onto Benicia Road. Follow Benicia road around the curve ¼ mile. The school is on the right side. Or, take I-80 to I-780 East bound. Take Glen Cove Road exit. Turn left at the signal, cross over the freeway and turn right at the next signal onto Benicia Road. The school is on the left side across from CHP.

WHAT CLASSES CAN I TAKE? There are a wide variety of classes to take at Pow Wow! Look at the Course List and pick your 6 classes. Make sure you choose alternate classes in case your first choice is full. The only problem may be that you want to sign up for everything! Solve that by teaming up with other pack leaders and parents and split up to cover all the classes offered at the same time. It’s an excellent way to make the most of Pow Wow. You can also follow the suggested sessions that are outlined on the top of the Course List page.

HOW DO I REGISTER? There are two ways to register – on-line or by mail. Just fill out the registration form on-line and submit it electronically or mail it to the Council Office. Calculate the cost based on when you sign up, if you want extra Pow Wow Handbooks or require Day Care for your children. Include a check with your registration and mail or hand deliver. It’s a snap!

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST? Registration is $20 (by 1/6/06) & includes Pow Wow Handbook, Patch, and Lunch. Late Registration is $25 (on or after 1/7/06), Den Chief Training is $15 & Childcare is $10. Avoid the late charge by registering before January 6, 2006.

WHAT IS THE POW WOW HANDBOOK? The 2006 Pow Wow Handbook contains crafts, songs, skits, games & ready references. This handbook will give you many great ideas for your Den and Pack programs. The registration form has a convenient place to order extra copies for other leaders and your friends in Scouting.

DO YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS? This year’s Pow Wow Chairman is Yvonne Awai and the Staff Advisor is Aaron Burch. Either one will be happy to assist you with any questions you may have. You can reach Yvonne at [email protected] or by phone at (925)648-9536. Aaron can be reached at [email protected] or (925) 674- 6125.

WHAT IS DEN CHIEF TRAINING? Den Chief Training will be offered in conjunction with Pow Wow. Same time, same place for a full day of leadership training to help Boy Scouts learn the skills needed to be a great Den Chief.
