SOME EXTRA POINTS WHICH HAVE ARISEN. 1. The fact that a building has been demolished or has changed use does not mean that we can deny there was ever a memorial there. People looking want to know. We can only tell them what we have discovered. If the memorial has been destroyed, but we know the details, we give them what we can. 2. The location of a memorial is problematic, as we have discussed before. If it has been moved from one place to another, is it better to locate it in its original site & say that it has been moved to somewhere else? I try to be very clear in my Index as to what has happened to a memorial. Leonard, & George; Callender ------Bishopwearmouth See Sunderland ------Journal 7/10/06 carries the story of George Chicken, born Bishopwearmouth, who was awarded the Victoria Cross for his actions during the Indian Mutiny. He was a volunteer with the Indian Naval Brigade. He won his VC by charging into a group of about 20 Indian Mutineers during the Battle of Suhejnee in Bengal on September 4th 1858. Hall, Sgt., 6th D.L.I.; Harold Hutson, Lieut., K.O.Y.L.I.; 1939-45 Roll of Honour in Head Office names the following members of staff killed: C.R.
