AFLNT Talent & High Performance Advisory Group

ESTABLISHMENT
The AFLNT Talent & High Performance Advisory Group has been established to support AFLNT’s goal to increase the number of AFL & AFLW listed players.
PURPOSE
The purpose of the Advisory Group is to help ensure that the talent programs and associated support process are in place, in line with AFL National Guidelines and are followed to give talented athletes the best platform to develop both their football and non-football talent.
The Advisory Group will also provide a platform for affiliated competitions, regional and remote stakeholders to engage with the Northern Territory State Academy program to collaborate and contribute to the design, development and review of all underage talent pathway programs.
The group’s focus is to ensure that all programs meet the needs for individual athlete development by providing a consistent unified approach achieving community, club and talent program objectives.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITES
• Facilitate cooperation between talent programs, affiliated leagues, clubs and community competitions to establish principles for talent identification, selection and development opportunities
• Developing, carrying out and monitoring measures designed to ensure a fair, safe, healthy environment and the welfare of athletes, families, coaches, support staff and volunteers;
• Establish protocols and processes to ensure best practice talent identification frameworks are established, reported on and adhered to
• Establish a protocols and engagement approach to identify opportunities to improve relationships/communication between clubs, communities and the talent program
• Consider, consult and make recommendations to AFLNT about: o The overall approach to talent identification and development opportunities o State Academy selection processes o Opportunities for innovation
• Identify opportunities for continual improvement within the State Talent Program and affiliated competitions / programs
• Monitor and review program performance and effectiveness
• Establishing reporting protocols on talent and academy members wellbeing ie Top Talent List (draftable) and Wellbeing report update
MEMBERSHIP
Members will be appointed by or selected via expression of interest and approved by the Head of AFLNT.
Membership will be reviewed every 12 months.
Resignation of Membership shall be received 5 working days prior to withdrawal.
The Talent Manager NT will chair meetings with membership of the Advisory Group consisting:
• Talent Manager – NT (Chair) • Academy Head Coach • Men’s Premier League Coaches • Women’s Premier League Coaches • Remote Development Manager • Gold Coast Suns Football Club • Melbourne Football Club • Community Representatives
In addition to the membership, the following advisory officers may attend meetings or be invited:
• Head of AFLNT • AFLNT Coaching and Club Development Manager • State Academy Assistant Coaches (invitation only)
MEETINGS
The committee will meet at the Michael Long Learning and Leadership Centre with online facilities available for regional and remote members
Meetings will be at least bi-monthly or otherwise instructed by the Committee chair.
Meeting minutes will be made available to all members and distributes to relevant leagues and clubs;
ADMINISTRATION
The secretary will ensure:
• The agenda is set in consultation with the Chair and has a clear structure and purpose
• The agenda and supporting papers are circulated at least one week before the meeting
• Minutes of the meetings are prepared and circulated within two weeks of the meeting
• Minutes of the meetings outline all decisions and actions of the group
CONFLICTS OF INTEREST
Members are required to declare any real or perceived conflicts of interest that may apply to specific matters on the meeting agenda. Details of any conflicts of interests declared by the Chair and other members, and actions taken, will be appropriately recorded in the minutes of the meeting.
MONITORING AND REPORTING
The committee will provide quarterly reporting back through the Manager of Talent to the AFLNT Executive Leadership Team on its operations, activities and issues raised.
REVIEW
The Terms of Reference shall be reviewed annually, from the date of approval, to remain relevant, appropriate and compliant to standards, codes of practices and legislative requirements.
