BAD COMPANY BIOGRAPHY One of the most acclaimed bands of the classic rock era, England's Bad Company has put its indelible stamp on rock 'n' roll with a straight- ahead, no-frills musical approach that has resulted in the creation of some of the most timeless rock anthems ever. Led by the incomparable singer and songwriter Paul Rodgers, arguably the finest singer in rock 'n ' roll and a huge songwriting talent. Formed in 1973, Bad Company came to life when Rodgers was looking to start anew after the disintegration of his legendary band Free. His powerhouse vocals and songwriting were a main ingredient during Free's impressive five-year run; a period of time that saw the release of seven extremely influential albums that featured Free's minimalist blues-rock approach. Included among Free's dynamic body of work is the 1970 smash, "All Right Now," one of the most recognizable rock anthems ever recorded. Lyrics and melody by Rodgers. He was Free’s main songwriter. Rodgers had met Mott The Hoople guitarist Mick Ralphs and after jamming together and listening to new songs that Ralphs had penned and songs that Rodgers had penned, Ralphs made the decision to leave Mott and form a new band with Rodgers. The duo recruited former King Crimson bassist/vocalist Boz Burrell, added drummer Simon Kirke and Rodgers Christened the band Bad Company. Rodgers’ brought in Led Zeppelin manager Peter Grant and Bad Company became the first band signed to Zeppelin's Swan Song label. "I had to fight to get the management and the record company to accept the name Bad Company," explains Rodgers.

"We played at a Kelso gas station after driving 522 miles expecting to find a school, and what's more, when we went back to the Brill Building that Monday, the guy who set up the deal didn't exist... there was a desk and no person; Or then there was a time I had to pump gas all night to earn enough money to drive back from our gig . ." Jimmy was also an athlete . "It got very confusing because I'd be on the football field thinking about what songs we were gonna do in what sequence that night and I'd be on stage going into a three point stance. I went to a major football college one year on a scholarship and those guys were serious! I said wait a minute, time, I don't look like a ball ... it was called get the guy with the big nose and don't forget those teeth." Háskóli Íslands Hugvísindasvið Japanskt mál og menning Never Gonna Fall for Modern Love The Negative Population Growth of Japan Explored Ritgerð til BA-prófs Sunna Axelsdóttir Kt.: 151092-2929 Leiðbeinandi: Gunnella Þorgeirsdóttir Maí 2015 Abstract The main purpose of this essay is to attempt to shed light on possible underlying causes behind the drastic negative population growth in Japan. Additionally, similar trends of negative population growth around the world will be looked at, in light of the situation in Japan. The first chapter of this essay provides a brief outline of statistics both from Japan and other countries showing the development of the birth rate in those regions. Following the outline is a subchapter which aims to explain the statistics, and subsequently outline the consequences of negative population growth on the planet and the economy. Through this analysis of statistical data the goal is to gain insight into possible problems the governments of various countries are facing. The second chapter explores how various social changes within the Japanese society have affected the birth rate in Japan. The third chapter attempts to describe the sexual behavior of the younger generations in Japan today, as well as explore the various services many in Japan have begun to use as substitutes for relationships, contemplating whether these factors can be linked with the declining birth rate. The fourth and final chapter discusses the Japanese government’s methods and attempts to increase the birthrate. These methods are then compared with measures taken by other nations with similar problems. 1 Table of Contents Abstract.................................................................................Error!
