3 Project Details (Continued) Transmission line changes ENMAX Power ENMAX Power currently has a 138 kV (138,000 volt) transmission line installed on AltaLink infrastructure, located between Janet and No. 23 substations. To accommodate changes being made by AltaLink, which will allow for an increase in capacity and improved reliability in the area, ENMAX Power is required to relocate this transmission line onto new poles.

Part of this line will be installed on new 21 metre high wood poles from No. 23 substation (2412 - 50 Avenue SE) to 68 Street SE.

The remainder of the line will be installed on new 26 metre poles from 68 Street SE to Janet substation (Garden Road and 50 Avenue SE). These new poles will replace the poles currently in place.

4 AltaLink

An existing transmission line that runs from the Figure 4 ENMAX No. 2 substation to the AltaLink Janet substation was originally designed and built for a voltage of 240 kV (240,000 volts), but has been operating at 138 kV (138,000 volts) to date. To allow additional electricity to enter the transmission system the voltage will be increased to 240 kV. A picture of this transmission line at the 68 Street and 50 Avenue SE location is pictured to the left. An existing 138 kV transmission line will also have the voltage increased to 240 kV from the Janet substation to Shepard Energy Centre area.

Figure 5 South of Highway 22X and east of 88 Street SE two existing transmission lines, called 727L and 850L, will be connected. To connect the lines approximately 10 new tubular wood structures are required. A tubular structure is pictured on the left. The structure height will be approximately 20 metres.

Please refer to the map included in this package for the location of the transmission line changes.
