You can choose between a variety of different themes, general tours and tours of special exhibitions. Your tour request will be considered binding upon receipt of the request form and processed accordingly. Please notice that we need your reservation 5 weekdays in advance. We regret that we cannot guarantee the availability of any times requested – particularly in the case of special exhibitions. If a time is no longer available, an alternative will be suggested. You should expect a response to your request within one week. Duration: 90 minutes Participants: max. 25 persons (cabinets and special exhibitions are subject to special rules regarding groups and the number of participants). Prices: Weekdays and saturdays German language 110 Euros | Other languages 120 Euros (plus admission) Sundays and holidays German language 135 Euros | Other languages 145 Euros (plus admission) Please note that 19% VAT will be added to guides’ fees for tours for companies. All guides work on a freelance basis and are generally paid in cash at the end of the tour. Please complete our application form and return it to us. We will forward your application to our team of freelance art mediators. A guide, working on his or her own account, will then be arranged for you. Please note that requests for guided tours can only be processed when submitted at least 5 work days before your planned visit. Payment Please see our current ‘Information for Visitors’ page. Generally speaking, guides are paid in cash at the end of the tour. Any other form of payment, such as by bank transfer, must be arranged directly with the guide in advance. In the case of company bookings, guides are entitled to add VAT/sales tax to their fee. The admission price is not included in the fee for guided tours. Tickets for the respective museum or special exhibition must be bought on the day of your visit at the ticket counter. Unfortunately tickets cannot be bought in advance. Entrance fees and conditions of sale can be found under our current ‘Information for Visitors’ page. Cancellation If a tour has to be cancelled, the guide must be contacted directly at least three work days before the date agreed for the tour. If this deadline is not met, the guide has the right to charge a cancellation fee. Museum regulations All museum visitors are obliged to observe museum regulations. Should you have any questions about these regulations, please contact us directly. Please note, that for safety reasons, the maximum number of participants on a guided tour is 25. For guided tours of the cabinet and special exhibitions, this rule may vary. Data protection All data supplied by you in connection with your application is stored for further processing. Your data will be treated confidentially and will not be forwarded to unauthorised parties. Your personal data is only used to process, execute and complete your booking enquiry.     K E W E N I G Sean Scully “Four Days” 4 September to 7 November 2015 Opening on 4 September from 6 to 9 pm; the artist will be present. Opening hours: Monday to Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm “Four Days” is the first solo exhibition of the internationally acclaimed artist Sean Scully (b. in Dublin in 1945) at Kewenig in Berlin. New oil paintings by the Irish-American artist will be on view, as well as a selection of works on paper and one sculpture. Among the pieces executed especially for Berlin is the four-part painting Four Days after which the exhibition was named, Landline Blue, and an impressive triptych titled Arles-Abend-Vincent 2 – all works dating from 2015. Sean Scully is one of the most prominent contemporary exponents of abstract painting. He stands for an absolute, non-figurative style decisively distinguished by color. Pictorial compositions consisting of grid-like blocks or beam-like stripes are characteristic of his œuvre, as is the haptic quality resulting from the forceful brushstroke and impasto application of the paint and accounting for the works’ strong physical presence. Rather than simple canvas, the artist prefers to paint on higher-quality materials such as linen or aluminum, which lend the surfaces greater suppleness and heighten the radiance of the colors. Assembled from squares, rectangles and stripes, Scully’s motifs are based on basic geometric elements that are brought to life, however, by intense emotional impetus and the energy-charged painting manner. In their rectilinear structure and abstraction, his compositions thus exhibit not only conceptual stringency and order but also a high degree of emotionality.

Performing and Interpreting the Arts; Expressions of Faith, Witness and Belief – a course overview What we will study, and where While this class will encourage and require engagement with the full range of artistic wealth in the European cities we are visiting – from architecture to music - we will focus on the interpretation of poetry and the visual arts, the performance of poetry and the performance of tours in art museums. There will also be an opportunity to create a piece of visual art, which we expect to happen under the supervision of a trained artist and art educator at a studio in Amsterdam. Time permitting we may address the application of visual art to photography.
