(5-1, 4-1 CCIW) with a 6 p.m. kickoff at Francis Field in St. Louis, Mo. ON THE AIR: The IWU/WashU game will be broadcast live on the Internet at www.wjbc.com. POLLING PLACE: The Illinois Wesleyan football team improved one position to No. 17 (from No. 18 for two straight weeks) in the Oct. 14 D3football.com top 25 … From the CCIW, Wheaton dropped to No. 23 (from No. 12) and North Central is up to No. 15 after two weeks at No. 17 … Mount Union is No. 1, followed by Mary Hardin Baylor, Brockport and Frostburg State … Illinois Wesleyan is No. 19 for second straight week (after two weeks at No. 21) in the American Football Coaches Assn. poll. Wheaton dropped out of poll and North Central is No. 15. OCTOBER: The Titans are 91-49 (.640 winning mark) in the month during the Norm Eash coaching tenure, including a 2- 0 record this season … IWU was 4-0 in 2017, 4-1 in 2016, 4-1 in October 2015, 1-3 in October 2014, 4-0 in October 2013, 2-2 in October 2012, 4-1 in October 2011, 3-2 in October in 2010, 4-1 in October 2009, 2-2 in October 2008 and 4- 0 in October 2007. GAME #1,044 AHEAD: In its 127th season, IWU has an overall 1,044-game record of 590-412-42 (.583 winning percentage) … Of the 1,044 games, head coach Norm Eash has been involved in 346 of them (310 as a coach, 36 as a player from 1971-74) … Illinois Wesleyan’s 35-27 win at Albion on Sept. 13, 2014 was the 1,000th game in Illinois Wesleyan football history. HOME AND AWAY: Since Norm Eash became head coach in 1987, Illinois Wesleyan is 112-45 (.708) at home and 93- 59-1 on the road (.603). LAST WEEK: Senior Morgan Alexander (Elmhurst, York HS) rushed for a career-high 218 yards with two touchdowns and junior Zach Walsh (Lombard, Glenbard East HS) was on the receiving end of three TD passes as the No. 18-ranked Illinois Wesleyan Titans rolled past Elmhurst, 44-28, at Tucci Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 13 … The Titans, who built up a 30-7 halftime advantage, had 578 yards of offense, the fifth highest in a single game for an Illinois Wesleyan team as the Titans had 282 rushing and 296 passing … Alexander's previous game high was 142 yards, done against Augustana and North Park in 2017, and the total of 218 is the ninth most in an IWU single game. Alexander's big day gives him 1,714 career rushing yards, good for No. 13 all-time at IWU … Junior Brandon Bauer (Frankfort, Ill., Lincoln- Way East HS) threw for 291 yards on 19 of 29 passing with the three scores to Walsh of 1, 30, and 16 yards … Walsh had 84 receiving yards on six catches and junior Jack Healy (Northfield, Ill., Glenbrook South HS) had 88 receiving yards on five grabs … IWU was led defensively by junior linebacker Ryan Swift (Brookfield, Riverside-Brookfield HS) with nine total tackles and a forced fumble, while Keenan Scott (Riverside, Riverside-Brookfield HS) had six tackles. Junior safety Nico Gubenko (Wheaton, Wheaton North HS) and senior safety Trevor Staley (Lake Zurich HS) each had interceptions and junior Trevor Koepke (Tinley Park HS) recovered a fumble … Junior defensive linemen Chance Hilliard (Marion, Ill., Marion HS) and Derrick Frye (Posen, Ill., Brother Rice HS) issued quarterback sacks for the Titans. He passed his former head coach Don “Swede” Larson, who was 142-89-6 in 33 seasons (.612)… Eash became the school’s all-time football coaching win leader with a 52-21 victory over North Park on Oct. 12, 2013 … He surpassed the record held by his own college coach, Larson (168-121-6 from 1954-86) … Eash has been CCIW "Coach of the Year" six times (2017, 2009, 2007, 2001, 1996, 1992) … The win at Augustana on Oct. 17, 2009, was Eash’s 100th CCIW win. The Bears defeated then No. 19 Wabash College 24-20 at home on Oct. 9, 2010 … Junior punter Johnny Davidson and sophomore defensive lineman Peter Pigatti were named the CCIW Special Teams and Defensive Player of the Week following their performances in the 17-10 win over No. 12 Wheaton. Davidson averaged 39.6 yards per punt and landed three inside the 20, while Pigatti recorded five tackles and 3.5 sacks. WashU’s defense held Wheaton to -3 yards rushing, forced three turnovers and nine punts and limited the Thunder to 1-of-14 on third down … WashU has posted a 23-6 (.793) record at Francis Field in the past six seasons. The Bears have won five-straight contests at home dating back to last season … WashU ranks in the top-20 in NCAA Division III in four categories: sacks per game (4.33, fifth), completion percentage (0.688, 13th), fourth-down percentage (0.714, 13th) and tackles for loss per game (9.0, 19th) … WashU head coach Larry Kindbom (Kalamazoo, 1974) is in his 30th season leading the Bears, with a record of 182-115 (.613).
