The Wistar Institute Signs Lease at 3.0 University Place Signed lease agreement of up to 10 years for 8,000 sf with options for additional space to support long-term needs. In addition to their own Wistar Discovery Center lab space, Wistar will launch programming and curate lab partnerships in the new facility and throughout the life sciences sector.
3.0 University Place will provide 250,000 sf of lab and office space, specifically targeting biomedical research and advanced life science companies, with estimated delivery of Q3 2021.
PHILADELPHIA—(April 01, 2020)—The Wistar Institute and University Place Associates have announced further details of their collaboration at 3.0 University Place located at 4101 Market Street in University City, Philadelphia.
Wistar’s Discovery Center will have 8,000 square feet on the 3rd floor at 3.0 University Place to accomplish mission-critical goals and create an environment that will help foster the advancement of discoveries.
“Our collaboration will enable the co-creation of a community of scientists that will go far beyond the walls of a new building. Connecting some of the world’s finest scientific investigators and academic and industry partners will accelerate biomedical research advances,” commented Dario C. Altieri, MD, President and CEO of The Wistar Institute. “The Wistar Discovery Center at 3.0 University Place will serve to facilitate those advances right here in Philadelphia.”

the opportunity to provide critically needed shared-resources and a talent training pipeline program similar to our successful Biomedical Technician Training Program which is already supporting growing companies in Greater Philadelphia.”
Wistar is a nimble, collaborative and entrepreneurially spirited NCI-designated cancer center with a research and discovery engine that is focused on translating breakthrough biomedical discoveries into impactful new treatments to combat cancer and infectious diseases and giving back to the community in as many ways as possible while simultaneously accomplishing its mission.
3.0 University Place is responding to the needs of Philadelphia’s burgeoning biotech and advanced life sciences sectors. In addition to the collaboration with The Wistar Institute, the new building will also feature a 30,000 sf incubator that will be operated by Ben Franklin Technology Partners. Recognizing the needs of start-up organizations, 3.0 University Place will also include a floor dedicated to pre-built 2,500-10,000 sf “Growth Pods” with short-term and flexible leases for smaller-scale life science companies.
