This test simulates the maximum compression that can resist a box. The Compression Test measures the compressive strength of packages such as , drums, and cans. The BCT is the most common test performed to evaluate the stacking strength of the packaging. The test consists of determining the breaking point doing a compression test to a constant speed. It usually provides a curve of compressive Force versus Deformation.

BCT TESTBCT TEST For the BCT we will need to define the following parameters:

° Preload: It is the force to be applied constantly over the test time. ° Fall %: The test stops when the value falls by the same percentage of the maximum recorded during the test. ° Speed during the test.

BCT TESTBCT TEST STACKING

One of the important functions of a corrugated box is to provide crush resistance (product protection) and adequate strength for stacking in warehouses.

This test simulates the maximum compression of use, according to the weight to contain and the stacking height.

The test sample must be subjected to a force applied to the top surface of the test sample equivalent to the total weight of identical packages which might be stacked on it during transport.

STACKING TEST The minimum height of the stack, including the test sample, must be three meters and the duration of the test must be twenty four hours, with some exceptions with twenty eight days duration.

For the Stacking Test we will need to define the following parameters:

° Target Value: It is the force to be applied constantly over the test time. ° Time: Duration of the constant load during the test.

STACKING TEST CYCLES

Fatigue is the progressive and localized structural damage that occurs when a material is subjected to cyclic loading or deformation. Fatigue occurs when a material is subjected to repeat loading and unloading or deformation and relaxation.

We can perform Force Cycles or Deformation Cycles.

In the case of FORCE CYCLES, we will need to define the following parameters:

° Initial Force: Force to be applied to the specimen at the start of the section. ° Final Force: Force to be applied to the specimen at the end of the section. ° Number of Cycles. ° Time elapsed between each cycle. ° Speed during the section.

CYCLES TEST --FORCEFORCE CYCLES In the case of DEFORMATION CYCLES, we will need to define the following parameters: ° Initial Deformation: Deformation of the test specimen at the start of the section. ° Final Deformation: Deformation of the test specimen at the end of the section. ° Number of Cycles. ° Time elapsed between each cycle. ° Speed during the section.
