Holder, Jr. ATTORNEY GENERAL OF THE UNITED STATES The Klepper Prize was created through the generosity of Martin and Arlene Klepper in order to recognize an attorney early in her or his career who has made a significant volunteer contribution to the Legal Aid Society of the District of Columbia. This evening we present the Prize to an individual who has demonstrated a commitment to the mission of Legal Aid through his dedicated pro bono work and leadership in housing law cases on behalf of Legal Aid’s client community. Eric H. Holder, Jr. was sworn in as the 82nd Attorney General of the United States on February 3, 2009 by Vice President Joe Biden. The Legal Aid Society of the District of Columbia is proud to honor In 1997, Mr. Holder was named by President Clinton to be the Deputy Attorney General, the first African-American named to that post. Prior to that, he served as U.S. Attorney Jonathan G. Lin for the District of Columbia. Jonathan G. Lin is an associate in the litigation department at Mr. Holder, a native of New York City, attended public schools there, graduating from Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP.
