Dear Family, Friends, and Fans of Prep Hockey,

It is with pride and pleasure that I greet you at the start of Georgetown Prep’s 25th season. I want to acknowledge and thank our students and their coaches for the work they have already done to prepare for this winter’s games, and I wish them luck.

Competition has been part of Jesuit education since its inception in the 16th- century. Early Jesuit educators recognized that healthy competition can build character and school community. While they weren’t familiar with Ice Hockey, they would be pleased, I think, to see Prep students perform so well on the rink, in the classroom, and across the full range of activities that make life at Prep so robust. Our student-athletes remind us that “the glory of God is man fully alive.”

I especially want to thank the parents and families of our Ice Hockey players. In addition to giving their sons the priceless gift of a Catholic and Jesuit education, they offer countless hours of unwavering support for our team. Along with our alumni, faculty and friends of Prep Hockey, they promote our school’s 225 year-old mission of forming men of competence, conscience, courage and compassion; men of faith, men for others.

All the best for a safe and successful season. Hoya Saxa!
