We purchased GENUINELY BUSY from Terri White and she was also the owner of TUF N BUSY. This was the colt she kept to replace TUF N BUSY, and we feel very fortunate to be able to own a horse of this caliber. It just doesn’t get any bet- ter - not only does he have a great cow horse pedigree, he also has the color, looks and ability to back it up. GENUINELY BUSY has a great cow horse pedigree. An own son of June 6, 2006 #5032161 Buckskin Stallion TUF N BUSY and TUF N King Fritz BUSY’S offspring have won Bueno Chex over 3,740 AQHA points, TUF N BUSY Sutherland’s Miss Nune’s Dell 27 ROM winners, mostly in Keeping Busy X Aliso Okie Gal roping events; and he has A sired 46 point earners out of Lenas Wright On Smart Little Lena GENUINE Slide Me Again 236 foals sired. GENUINE LEIGH WRIGHT is an outstanding calf roping horse and is currently being hauled in the PRCA. She is an own daughter of LENA’S WRIGHT ON. He has a LTE of $109,995 and won the NRHA futurity as a three-year-old and was an AQHA World Champion Working Cow Horse as a five-year- old. He is the sire of NRHA and NRCHA money earners as well as an AQHA Champion. This is our sixth crop by GENUINELY BUSY. We are extremely proud of how his colts are breaking out and riding. I am riding a four-year-old that is a near perfect ranch horse - cowy, good-minded and wants to please. I couldn’t be happier with “Ricky.” His colts are just starting to hit the roping pen, and that is where they are going to shine. He sires colts that have a lot of cow and that trainable mind. Tuf N Busy 2 Ima Tuf Lena IMA TUF LENA is a buckskin stallion who has really proven himself as a sire for us. He is well built, stands 14.3 hands and weighs 1000 pounds. “Tuf” has an exceptional hip and a kind, gentle disposition. He possesses great bone and has strong dark feet. TUF N BUSY, an own son of BUENO CHEX, has been to the World Show several times. He was fourth in Senior Heeling. He has his Superior in reining, heading and heeling. TUF N BUSY has sired five world champions. Four in the youth division - two in heading and two in heeling. In 2001, he sired the World Champion Junior Heeling Horse at the AQHA World Show. Tuf was not shown due to an injury, but when he was ridden and in training he showed great promises. He is extremely athletic, quick to learn and these are traits he has passed on to his offspring. Tuf was in training with JD Yates of Pueblo, CO. His father, Dick Yates, April 3, 1999 #4113025 Buckskin Stallion was quoted as saying, “We were sorry to lose King Fritz Bueno Chex that colt as a prospect, he had a lot of talent” Sutherland’s Miss - a strong statement for as many good horses TUF N BUSY Nune’s Dell as these guys have been around. JD Yates X Keeping Busy showed a daughter of Tuf in 2009, IMA A Aliso Okie Gal TUF MISSY. IMA TUF MISSY was the Smart Peppy Lena Doc O’Lena AQHA High Point Junior Horse with 388 SMART Smart Peppy points in seven events. She qualified for BO LENA Freckles Bo Peep Colonel Freckles the World Show in five events, and won Doc’s Bo Peep Reserve World Champion Head Horse. In 2010 she received her ROM in Performance Halter. In 2011 she won the Congress in Ohio, and at the 2012 Sun Circuit in Arizona she was the high point all around horse and won over 80 points and a saddle. She has over 580 total AQHA points. She was the 2012 Reserve World Champion Head Horse. She also became an AQHA Champion in 2015. She is now making a name for herself on the Brazilian Show Circuit. We have three full sisters coming up for the broodmare band. The Tuf colts make great-minded ride horses with a lot of athleticism and cow. Tufs daughters are in production and are proving themselves to be exceptional mothers. Tuf has a lot of offspring in the roping arena. They are making great rope horses and have all of the ingredients to compete at a very high level. Tuf has become a popular sire for us as we have as many repeat buyers for his colts as any stallion we own.

  • Comparison of Head Morphometric Traits Within Five Selected Performance Types of Quarter Horses(Eguus Cabullus) Redacted for Privacy
AN ABSTRACT OF THE THESIS OF Elana Morgana Smith for the degree of Master of Science in Animal Science Presented on October 25, 2002 Title: Comparison of Head Morphometric Traits Within Five Selected Performance Types of Quarter Horses(Eguus cabullus) Redacted for privacy Abstract approved: Thomas F. Savage A study was conducted to investigate if morphometric facial measurements could be utilized to differentiate five categorical performance types of Quarter Horses. The five categories being Western, Halter, English, Reining, and Cutting. The measurements were collected from 323 registered Quarter Horses representing animals who ranged in age from one year to 30 years of age and one of three gender (Stallion, Gelding, and Mare) categories. Eight facial measurements were obtained from two geographic areas, Florida and Oregon. A correlation was performed and resulted in a reduction of the data from eight to five facial measurements, due to the presence of facial symmetry. The reduced data was subsequently analyzed by Multivariate Analysis, using the Wilks Lambda Analysis of Variance. The Main effects, age, gender, and categorical performance type were all significant (p<0.0001 to 0.00 1). Of the two-way interactions only age:gender was not significant (p>0.05) and the three- way interaction age:gender:type was also not significant (p>O.O5) Based upon the not significant (J)>O.O5) Based upon the results, the five original performance categories could be reduced to four (English, Halter, Cutting, and Western/Reining). This indicates that there are a number of similarities in facial measurements between the Western and Reining horses.

  • DRY DOC by Glory Ann Kurtz
Million Dollar Sires: DRY DOC By Glory Ann Kurtz Most horsemen will agree that a majority of horses are only "as good as their mothers." Figures are recklessly tossed around in everyday conversation that the mare is responsible for everywhere from 50 to 90 percent of how the colt turns out and though no one has seemed to come up with the scientific answer, it is universal understanding among horsemen that a colt's mother is a very important factor when breeding. If you don't believe it, just check out prices of young horses in the sale ring. A majority of horses selling in the sale ring have great sires, but it is the dam that separates the high sellers from the mediocre. Million-dollar sire Dry Doc is an example of the importance of selective breeding. He was sired by Doc Bar, the legendary sire that revolutionized the cutting horse business, but so were thousands of other horses. What made the difference was his dam, the legendary Poco Lena. In the beginning Although she was characterized by some writers as a "lanky, unwanted weanling daughter of Poco Bueno out of Sheilwin," Poco Lena was first trained and shown by Pine Johnson. She was foaled on the E. Paul Waggoner's 3D Ranch near Arlington, Texas in 1949. But Waggoner gave the bay filly to his manager, Glenn W. Turpin. When she was a 3-year-old, Johnson rode her to her first in a string of records, winning both the Junior registered and NCHA-approved Open cutting, with 33 entries, at the State Fair of Texas in Dallas.
