THE McCONNELL- SERIO ERA In just her first season as head coach of the Duquesne women’s basketball program, Suzie McConnell-Serio reversed the fortune of a program that had won only seven games the previous season. The 2007-08 edition of the Dukes finished 15-15, recording eight more wins than in 2006-07, which was the second-best turnaround in program history improving by six-and-a-half games. Additionally, Duquesne was the most improved team in the Atlantic 10 and led the conference in scoring. Additionally, McConnell-Serio’s success on the floor was recognized by league officials as Kristi Little was named Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Year as well as being named to the A-10 Third Team All-Conference and All- Defensive Team. Looking to build on the foundation of success established last season, the Dukes bring a combination of experienced veterans, transfers and freshmen who look to achieve the high expectations set for the 2008-09 season.
