Wyefield Apiaries Label ADRAN GEIFR BOERAIDD • BOER GOAT SECTION The Society acknowledges with thanks the assistance/sponsorship of the section by:- GRUBS Boots Ltd - Voucher for Supreme Champion Boer Goat NODIADAU CYFFREDINOL • CYMHWYSTER GENERAL NOTES • ELIGIBILITY 1. Section open to CAE accredited goats only. (Accredited by SAC) (Please note that you cannot enter if in the process of becoming accredited as in they have passed the first blood test but not the second.) 2. A Boer Goat Young Handler Section will again be held in line with other Young Handler Sections in the schedule which will be held on Saturday. A Sunday programme of classes will also continue. Exhibitors please note that only those who have exhibited on Saturday can compete on Sunday. All exhibitors must arrive either on Friday or Saturday at the stipulated times and must remain on the Showground for the full two days of the event. 3. Goat exhibitors are reminded to complete the new EIDCYMRU AML 1 form or equivalent if you are coming from England or Scotland. Each individual animal identification should be listed on the form. The movement licence must be FULLY completed prior to arrival and be ready for inspection at the gate by the Stewards. 4. The Goat Classes are held under the rules, regulations and recognition of the BBGS. All exhibits must be registered with the BBGS as in the ownership and in the name of the exhibitor, the registered name and number being quoted on the entry form. 5. The Society reserves the right, at their discretion, to amalgamate classes which have less than three entries. 6. No pregnant goat may be admitted to the Showground. In the event of an unforeseen kidding or abortion, the goat must be immediately isolated from other goats. Full details of the goat, exhibitor and action taken must be reported in writing by the Chief Steward to the BBGS Secretary, immediately after the Festival. 7. To comply with Health and Safety Regulations, the use of any substance containing toxic chemicals, (including sheep dips to prepare goats for showing), whilst on the Showground is strictly forbidden. Any defaulter will be asked to leave the Showground and entry refused the following year. 8. Please familiarise yourself with the rules at the back of the schedule including Special Regulations relating to Sheep & Goats. In the event of the Society being unable to stage the exhibits concerned, the entry fees will be refunded in full. However, the boer goat must be shown to its best advantage to the judge. • The boer goat does not have to be the property of the competitor. • The competitor must be prepared to answer basic questions relating to his or her exhibit by the judge. Page 45 • It is a condition of entry that all handlers, and especially children, should only handle animals where they have the necessary strength and experience to cope with the said animal. • No parent or adult helper to be present in the ring during the competition. • All competitors to wear white coats. • Admission for children 16 years and under will be FREE therefore no ticket is required. • NO ENTRY FEE • Rosettes will be awarded to 1st – 6th prize winners. All other exhibitors will receive a Highly Commended Award. The award will be judged on the following criteria: • General cleanliness of the pens and presentation of the goats. • Marketing and promotion of the herd. • Information about the breed/s on display. • The overall effect and impact of the above three categories. Arravale Rove,., have 8 distinguished history streb::hing back to the early days of the association. In those far-off days football was ex­ teramely strong in Tipperary. An indication of that strength can be seen in the outcome of the 1894 championship. There were three teams from the town among the eleven that contested the football championship and the two that reached the final were ArraYale Rovers and Tipperary Shamrocks, ArrllYaie won by 2-' to nil even without the services of their well-known captain. Jack Quane, who had gone to America. Another famous team from the town, Bohercrowe, won the county championship in 1894 and 1896 and were back again in 1899. Tipperary Town won in 1902 and Tipp 01eary's in 1910. Surely lin impressive record I Loughmore-Castleiney's record may not stretch back 50 far but it is also II proud one. The club won its first county final in 1940 Md were success­ ful 00 seven occasions alto­ gether. In 1955 they defeated to<lay's OPPOSition. Two men from the parish played on the TIpperary selection against Dublin on 'Bloody Sunday', Bill Ryan Laha and Jim Ryan.     Girls from the parish are active participants in camogie and ladies football. For the main part this has been with clubs from the neighbouring parishes. There was an active ladies football club in the parish from 1975 to 1979. During this time they won 5 County Senior Titles and a Munster Club title in 1978 together with a number of underage successes. Camogie is the main sport at present with a number of the players achieving success at club school and inter county levels. The attendance included John Moloney, Noel Morris, John Costigan, Pat Moroney, Seamus J., King and Michael TO’Meara. Seamus McCarthy was unable to be present. At the outset John Moloney was unanimously appointed chairman amd Michael O’Meara secretary. The chairman outlined the aims of the group, which were chiefly to honour annually persons over 70 years of age, who had given significant service to the G.A.A. in whatever capacity - player, official, groundsman, jersey carrier, tea maker, referee, umpire, etc. A sample of a framed certificate, which was presented annually in Dublin, was shown by the chairman to the meeting and the secretary undertook to get quotations for same. It was agreed that approximately 40 annual presentations would be made, i.e. an average of 10 per division. The consensus was that the general public should be asked to nominate suitable persons and justify why they were considered worthy. It was agreed that the presentations would be made in Brú Ború, Cashel on November 16th or 23rd and that the evening’s programme would consist of a chat, light refreshments and entertainment before the presentations. It was also agreed that the wives of the recipients be invited to the presentations.

When I had attained 16 years I was apprenticed to the grocery and spirit business in Hughie Shelley's of Thurles. Later on I went to work for Michael Bown in the same business in that town. I was with the last mentioned employer until the end of 1916 when I had to go home for a period to recuperate from sickness.. I returned to business In Thurles early in 1917, and then went to work for Michael (or 'Mixey') O'Connell, as he was popularly called. O'Connell was a prominent Sinn Feiner and Irish Volunteer and his house in later days became the headquarters of the Mid-Tipperary Brigade.

The Principal of Coláiste Mhuire Co-Ed is responsible for the implementation of this Admission Policy. 1 INTRODUCTION TO COLÁISTE MHUIRE CO-ED Introduction to Coláiste Mhuire Co-Ed The vocational school in Thurles was set up in 1928. When North Tipperary VEC was created in 1930 it was the only centre in the north of the county to already have a technical school. The school was located in Castle Avenue. In autumn 1981 the new vocational school at Castlemeadows – Gairm Scoil Mhuire – was officially opened. In 2007/8 the school gymnasium (the Dome) was opened. The Dome was a joint venture with the GAA. In 2009, the school was officially renamed Coláiste Mhuire Co-Ed. Coláiste Mhuire Co-Ed operates under the aegis of Tipperary Education and Training Board. Coláiste Mhuire Co-Ed is a multi-denominational, Co-ed school. The school offers a wide variety of programmes including the Leaving Cert Established, Leaving Cert Applied, Junior Cycle, Junior Cycle Schools Programme and Transition year. Teachers adopt progressive methodologies and participate in a variety of school wide initiatives. A wide variety of Extracurricular activities including sport, music and the arts are available.
