Central Queensland University

The addition of Central Queensland University (CQU) to the AEN is progressing smoothly, with the first exchange of students from the Utrecht Network (UN) to CQU occurring in the Australian Semester 2 2019.

AEN-UN Event 2019

Edith Cowan University is currently finalising plans for an AEN and UN member event for 2019, tentatively at NAFSA. Once the plan is formalised, the AEN Secretariat will send a formal invitation to the UN Secretariat to share with the Network.

April 2019 1 Utrecht Network Outbound to AEN 2018/19

In the 2018/2019 academic year, 37 students from the UN participated in an exchange with an AEN partner university, with a total of 40 semesters. This represents a year-on-year decrease of 21%. There were more applications in total (47) but quite a lot of students withdrew them in the meantime (10 students, 21%). It was quite difficult to replace them. In general, we had a lot of nominations from UN partners. But there is always only a limited number of available places for students from about 30 European UN partners. at 7 AEN partner institutions in Australia.

Nominations for 2019/20 Exchange Cycle AEN to UN and UN to AEN nominations and applications for the coming 2019/2020 exchange cycle are currently in progress. UN to AEN nominations for Australian Semester 2 2019 and Australian Semester 1 2020 are roughly consistent with the same cycle of 2018/2019 with 42 students comprising of 47 semester places. Once again, it should be noted, that 100% of places made available to the Utrecht Network member universities at Australian partners have been subscribed so far. AEN to UN nominations for Northern Fall 2019 are down on previous year, with 21 students nominated. In Northern Fall 2018, 31 students were nominated corresponding to 32 semester places.
