Massachusetts in the County of Bristol; bordered by Fall River and Freetown to the north, New Bedford to the east, Westport to the west and the Atlantic Ocean to the south. Dartmouth is approximately 60 miles south of Boston and 30 miles east of Providence and is the fifth largest town in the Commonwealth. Trimble Term Expires 2014 John George Jr. Term Expires 2016 TOWN ADMINISTRATOR Early in the year, the most notable event was the Blizzard of 2013. Southeastern Massachusetts, Cape Cod and the South Coast took the brunt of this storm. At one point, almost 80% of the Town was without power and it took almost four days after the storm ended for everyone to have their power restored. Despite these difficulties, Dartmouth fared better than some other communities. Thanks to the efforts of Rep. Markey, the Select Board, and myself, Dartmouth was able to have an Nstar representative attend the Emergency Operations Center meetings starting on Sunday and we hope that Nstar will consider doing this in the future as it allowed us to have Nstar focus on the most critical public safety and public health issues and often focus on areas with the largest number of outages. Dartmouth Police and Fire Districts personnel assisted many individuals and even transported some individuals to the Town’s shelter. Dartmouth was fortunate to have one of few shelters in the area that was staffed around the clock thanks to Civil Preparedness Director Ed Pimental and his volunteers many of whom were Town employees. Additionally, DPW worked during the storm to keep
